Preserving the names of deleted users in posts
As part of a membership cleanup process, I plan to delete those users from my forum who did not log in since a long time. However, many of those users were active in the past, that is they wrote many posts. Here comes the problem: when they are deleted, all their earlier posts become uniformly labeled as written by "Visitor".
I would like to preserve the names of deleted users in their posts, for correct reference.
Is there a way to solve the above difficulty? Thanks in advance for help!

Re: Preserving the names of deleted users in posts
Hello Tengo,
If you are going to be deleting them, there is no possible way to keep their names. Once you delete them, all of their information such as their username, password, email, gender, age, location, ect. will all be deleted and cannot remain. So if you want their names to stick around, then you would have to not delete them at all but once you delete them, their usernames will be defaulted to "Visitor" or "Guest" depending on your site language. There is no way to change this but you can always suggest this to the community to see if this could be added into the future.
Hope this answers you question and solves your issue.

Thanks for responding. Nevertheless, I expect an answer from the forum staff, still hoping that there is a way.Jadster wrote:There is no way to change this

Re: Preserving the names of deleted users in posts
When you deleted an account, all posts by that member will have guest as author. If you keep the username then a new member would not be able to use that username.
