I have a problem with the point system

My members can earn points by posting in some categories. And for the newer users, everything works fine

But, my site is 7 years old and those older members their points aren't correct

I have 13.000 posts, and 700 points? And some of my old members have 2.000 posts and -22 or -6 points... How is this possible and can I change it so they have their correct number of points back?

Hello @WolfStory,

When you plan your point system, before putting it into action, you should reset all previous points to zero. This cannot be done via profile field resetting as you would do with other profile fields. Instead you go to Administration Panel -> Modules -> Points & Reputation -> Points Donation.

There you got groups to donate to or you can simply type in the username you want to adjust and then just type in the new value of points and save. If you have loads of members to adjust, the only reasonable solution would be to fit them all in one group and then set the new point value for that group as zero. Drawback you will have here is that those new people that got some points now will have theirs as zero too. But, it's better to do that rather than modifying one by one.

For that negative point value, go to Points & Reputation -> Point Sytem -> Points Management (here you will see what causes negative points)
Reputation also assigns the points so when someone gets negative reputation, same amount of negative points is given. This can be changed as well in Points & Reputation -> Reputation -> Reputation Management.

I don't use reputation and there's nothing that gives a user -points
I have 4100 members so one by one is not an option Razz

Did you active the points system when you started your forum?  If not then it starts when you active it.

Phoew.. It's 7 years old so I don't know that anymore. But it was deactivated for years and now I activated it. And like I said, it works for the most members, but not for the ones who registerd I think the first year?

Has the members from the first year been posting?

Turn it off and on does not change the points.  The points you had when you turn it off will be the same when you turn it on again.
