Post by dp March 19th 2008, 6:29 pm

On my forum, one of my friends who is a moderator was at my house, and he was on his account and he banned a member for one day. Now, when I wanted to login on my admin account, it said I was banned, I couldn't even see any part of the site then!! I'm glad it's just for one day but can you help me ASAP!!

Try clearing your cookies and cache. I'm not sure what else you can do, that seems a little weird that it wouldn't happen like that.

He can't ban you. it is impossible! A moderator can not ban members (unless given the right) but under no circumstance can a admin be banned, you must go to the admin panel and remove the admin from administration position, which a moderator can not access.

So not sure what happened with you but..

Hello.

It's certainly because of you IP : try to reboot your internet connection and start again. If it doesn't work, use the utilities but it seems there is a problem : forumotion website doesn't load scratch

If the IP doesn't work, wait until the website work again Wink

A moderator banned another member, and it seams as though it banned me aswell! It just wont even let me see my site!! If there's no solution I'll just have to wait for one day to go by, that's how long the moderator wrote in for. Can he ban himself, he might have accidentally have done that, I didn't notice, he was at my house at the time!

It is possible, as Eximma said, that he banned by IP address and just put in the wrong one, meaning yours. I didn't really think about that. If that is the case then a moderator really can ban the admin by banning their IP address. Anyway, if that is what's happening go to another computer, in the library or something, and log in and unban your IP address. I would try it out on my forum and see if that is possible, but I don't want to ban myself.

Not really, because you can't ban the forum creator. Even as a member of the admin group you can't ban the creator. The best thing I can think of is that the IP was just banned.

Arghhhhh! I can't get on again! My friend gave his password so I could find out what's wrong and I'm been banned again! This time it defiantly wasn't the IP, it was just the button saying 'Ban this member'. I clicked it and it banned that member and I can't access the forum now! I just can't understand it! LogIn to the admin panel by using this link below. Use the Email used in board creation or the forum adress, combined with the password that you used when you created your board.

https://www.forumotion.com/en/utils

Once you are logged into the admin panel, check the "Users & Groups / Users / Ban control" tab and see if there are any IP adresses listed - preferable those using wildcarts "*". Delete those if necessary.

there seems to be a domain problem hear, I paid for our domain threw forumotion in dec of 07 so it should be good threw dec of 08 just to answer the obvious question up front.
Other members can access it threw our domain, but I cant, I had one of our members sing me on from there location and they had no problem, but I get the you have been banned from this forum message.

[Only Topic] Banned members Empty member banned no explication

Post by luizrrr March 21st 2008, 4:05 pm

Hi friends Please!
I am very worried.
A fact very strange happened today.
One of the most important members of my forum has been banned without any explanation.
On the control panel of the forum, it was okay, all right, I do not bani, and would never ban a person this way.
See in the pictures, the message that came to him.
And I have to explain, because we were banned.
I do not understand what may have happened, but left me very concerned.

You can analyze our forum and see detail what may have happened?

The user is: neX

I thank you in advance for your help!

I just had this happen to me today. I banned an IP last night, and no I'm 100% sure it wasn't my own, then this morning when I got on my forum it said I had been banned. So I cleared my cache, and cookies and I could get back on just fine. Seems like there is some problem with the system. I'm not sure why it would think I'm banned just because I banned somebody else.
