Solved Setting up a new forum - name already exists (but it doesn't)

Post by GGWolf December 18th 2016, 10:46 am

Hello, I'm trying to set up a new forum (no problems with my existing one, thank you), but I'm experiencing some problems.
There seems to be an issue with the form...? In the 'Forum Address' field, the box next to this is a drop down, but it's empty. I've tried several different forum names, yet every one comes back with '[forum name]. already exists', yet if I visit that URL it doesn't appear to be an existing one.

I set up my first forum in a matter of minutes, I'm not 100% sure but I think the form looked slightly different...? it was at the beginning of December that I set up my first forum (and I'm using a different admin email address on this new attempt, to avoid any multiple email account issues)

Can anyone help me please? Smile

Hi ChanelW, thanks for your reply - that's my existing forum - I have no problems with that one, thanks Very Happy (I'm not trying to set up extra forum board areas within my existing forum).

The problem I'm asking about here is that I'm attempting to set up a new forum - using a different forum name, and different email address for admin (so as not to cause any 'existing user' issues) - and yet every forum URL name I've tried apparently already exists (yet doesn't).

I was using the sign up form here : https://www.forumotion.com/
Next to 'forum address' there's a drop-down menu, which is visible on the first page (it says forumotion.co.uk, no other choices in the drop-down part). On the next step of the sign-up form, at the 'forum address' field part, the drop-down menu to the right of this field is blank... which makes me think there may be a problem with this part of the form....?
I fill in the form, and whatever name I try I get the 'already exists' error message. I've tried clearing my cache, and trying on different browsers, and different computers. Same problem each time. Is there currently a known problem with the registration / sign up process?

I'm attempting to create a brand new forum (making sure not to use an admin email address already connected with my existing forum) but every name I try comes back as already existing, and yet I'm pretty sure they don't actually exist...

[edited to remove the screenshot, as only one seemed to be showing up, the least useful]
