How can I change my Forumotion forum address?
Technical Details
Forum version : #Invision
Position : Founder
Concerned browser(s) : Google Chrome
Screenshot of problem : https://i.servimg.com/u/f62/17/47/36/51/forumo10.jpg
Who the problem concerns : All members
When the problem appeared : Since today
Forum link : http://teltalk.clicboard.com
Description of problem
In the past, I have used a personalized domain name for my forum.Since today, all forum guests get redirected to the Forumotion forum address teltalk.clicboard.com.
That's not nice without any announcement. So I have investigated that I need to buy a forum package for this service, now.
Since the Forumotion forum address is old, I would like to change it instead.
In the past, I could adjust it easily. But as I see, this isn't possible anymore, either.
How can I adjust my Forumotion forum address to a nice one, now?

Re: How can I change my Forumotion forum address?
Yes, the link confirms what I wrote above.
I repeat my question:
How can I adjust my Forumotion forum address? I mean the internal address from Forumotion. In the past it was possible to adjust it easily.

Do you still have the domain name setup? If yes, remove it.

Re: How can I change my Forumotion forum address?
To change the free url of your forumotion forum, go to ACP (admin panel)-->General-->Forum Address and you can change it there.
Note: If you have an active ssl certificate it won't let you change the url until it expires.

To remove my domain name setup, I have to buy a forum package first. Hence, I can't remove it.SLGray wrote:Do you still have the domain name setup? If yes, remove it.

Re: How can I change my Forumotion forum address?
That's the way how it's supposed to be. But after the software change from Forumotion happened today, it's not possible anymore (because of the problem reported in my last answer to SLGray).brandon_g wrote:To change the free url of your forumotion forum, go to ACP (admin panel)-->General-->Forum Address and you can change it there.

Hello Please change your browser to say firefox or something
Google Chrome always has problems with the page that makes a change to the address.
Also you MUST be in the founders account to make this change.

I opened the forum in Firefox, logged in with the founders account - and everything is as described above.
The domain "tel.community" is still in your database, but I can't delete it.

@APE
For some reason the external domain name was not removed in the AP when the redirection to the free address was made.

Re: How can I change my Forumotion forum address?
This is a general problem.
Also, I have to say that I'm not a big fan of that change and in my opinion it was unethical. If someone wants to change his domain - yes, he should pay for it. But if someone has had a working domain for years... well, that's another story.
However, yes, I can see why staff did that change. Just don't think it was a nice gesture towards loyal users.

Do you have an update?
I have used my previous domain name many years and would like to update the forum address, since it is confusing my forum members and guests.

Re: How can I change my Forumotion forum address?
Google is starting to delete my content from the index for my domain that you have disabled by surprise on 5th June.
Since the problem solving takes too long, I've changed my mind.
Now, I want to do the necesarry domain change (caused by your technically incorrectly implemented change) myself by spending my existing 506 credits to buy an advanced forum package at the costs of 360 credits for one month.
But this doesn't work, because I'm forced to pay with PayPal for this. There is no option to use my credits for this new package.
My question now is:
Are my existing 506 credits lost, because it's only allowed to pay your new forum packages with PayPal?
Background:
I only want to delete my domain tel.community from your database, so that I will be able to choose a reasonable web address again. I don't want to buy a long running forum package. I only want to correct your technical mistake as soon as possible. Why can't I spend my credits for that?

Re: How can I change my Forumotion forum address?
if you pay for a monthly pack you will still have to buy your domain name from us after you got the pack.
you can only pay by paypal as this is the only system we have that will let us take a monthly payment from your bank.
Our tech team are out of the office on weekends but they have seen your problem and they will get to fixing it as soon as they can.
I am sorry for the delay on this but we are working hard to get this fixed and other small problems too.
Regards.
APE and the Team.

Thank you for the information.
I still want to know:
What can I do with my 506 credits that I have bought in recent years? Since the only way to spend credits now is buying one of your new forum packages with PayPal, are those worthless now?
You took away my domain name (that I have used for many years), you took away my paid credits and you took away the possibility to adjust my Forumotion web address (and all this without prior annoucement). This is a little bit too much!

You can use the credits to pay the yearly payment for a package.

What can I do if my credits are not enough for a yearly payment of a package?
If I don't want to buy a package for a whole year, then I can't use my old credits anymore?
