Solved Members lost Post Count - Timezone changed - hacked?

Description of problem

Hi! I'm Gabriella the acting Admin of the Novel Lust Cafe.
Today I was informed that some members have lost post counts. None of the other Admins (incl. the Forum Founder) and Mods have deleted any messages.

The founder and I discussed a new member with a strange name over the weekend which she wanted to ban, because we thought it could be a hacker. (Btw..she's now deleting the person.)

To make things really strange none of us activated this member. And as of today, some of our members complained because they had lost post counts and we're not talking 20 or 50 posts...some of them have lost 12000 posts...!

When I logged on the the Admin panel, I also saw that the forum timezone was changed to Ashgabat.

What can I do? Or what can the founder do? Do you think we were hacked?

Also, daily backup was activated. How can I implement the backup? Will that restore the post count? And is there a way to secure the forum?

Thanks for your help!

Sorry, we needed a little longer than anticipated. Now that we've got all the things needed for the transfer of founder rights, Gem is going to send the PM soon.

Thanks again for your help and leaving the thread open. Cheer It would be fantastic if you could leave it open until she has the new password...just in case something else comes up...which I hope it won't, but considering our current luck...

Thanks.
Gem send you a PM today.
Can you please check if it has all the required screenshots? She's not sure if she added the pictures properly.

Hello,

The change has been done and a new password has been sent to the new founder already. Therefore, I'm going to consider this topic as solved because:
  • This thread has switched topics several times. This has been done due to solving the first doubt but it's easy to lose track of everything that has been discussed here.
  • The requester of the foundation email change for this forum is not the original creator of this thread and therefore, in order to request help he/she has to open a thread by himself/herself.
So please, if you guys keep having doubts don't hesitate to open a new thread and we'll happily help you thumright

Problem solved & topic archived.
Please read our forum rules: ESF General Rules

Best regards :rose:
