I have a few questions regarding structure , Latest Discussions , Tags

I seem to have forgotten a few things over the years . And there are a few things I never knew As I am planning to do some improvements .

1) In the Forum External Widget . What is " Latest Discussions " ? What does it do ? Where does it go ?

2) Can I make a " TAG " list of forums or topics and post a link on the main page ?

3)In one of my forums . I have a link that says NEW FORUM INDEX WIDGET WITH LINKS . When I click on it . It is an entire page of the active forums and topics . The whole

titles of each one from top to bottom . I don't remember how that came about . Is it really a WIGDET ? How did I make that list ?

4) When making Forums in the in the AP . Of which I have created over 100 . The picture of what they look like and what ordsr they go in . Looks deceiving . Because

theydo not work like it shows .

When I try to make categories , that I can put forums in . And in turn put sub forums in , then topics in them .

I find that the categories are not visible on the main page . That I only seem to be able to create forums . And then attach other forums that I want in them . Which then should be subforums . But it doesn't say that . Am I able to separete these more than , be able to create forums . And then attach other forums that I want in them ? I hope you get my meaning . Lol .

I don't seem to be able to see or do anything with the categories . They are not visible or active

I would appreciate any help on these please .

1. Latest discussion is what the name says, latest topics that members posted.
2. What do you mean by TAG?
3. Please provide link to your forum so that we have clear understanding of how that feature works.
4. When it comes to how something is visible and presented it's all how you make it. First thing I would recommand you to check is:

CP > Display > Structure and hierarchy
There you can pick how would you like to present categories and forums. After you do that, pay attention on how you created them and arranged. Cpanel only presents what you gived, no more, no less. Most likely you overlooked somewhere.

Edit: Please make sure that your topic title is a good representation of your problem. It will improve search engine for other users who have same or similar issues as you had. bounce

Okay . I generated it . Where would I find it ? It is not on the main page . Not in any of the portals ?

It is not the same as the scrolling Latest Topics is it ?

3) It is not about just random clicking and hoping for the best, it is about understanding how it works so that in the future you never make mistake. For example, I am using

Split categories on index - Medium.

That allows me to have categories first and then forums inside and then if needed subforums. But, that's what I need, I don't know if you need your forum to be excatly like that.

2) If I understood right, but maybe I did not, you want forum users to make tags as they type such as #controlpanel and when somebody clicks on it, they will be taken to a list of topics where such tag is used? Example:

If this is what you are looking for, then go to CP > General > Configuration and select "Allow keywords tags :" - All members.

You said well, you did generate it, but now you have tu put it somewhere by yourself. It's an iframe. You are given code and you have to post it where you want. Let's say I want to use it as provided:

I went to CP > Display > Templates > General > index_body and there I added it like this:

So, you made this by hand? It is not forum generated? You want to say you must update this list alone over and over? But you would like this to be done automatically?

No . A different kind of tag .

I guess there are 5 types of forum tags .

This is on of them .

Tags are a free form method of categorization, currently being used in the WordPress Support Forums. The goal of using these tags in the WordPress Support Forum is to create a "heat map", an index of topics covered within the Forum. The larger the size of the tag, the more discussions about the topic.

Here is an example of that type of tag . Sorry it is the only one I could find at the moment ( and the mildest ) lol .

A link on the main page directs you to that page . Then you pick what you want to view .

Ah yes, I see now. Personally, I never saw such feature on Forumotion forums. I do know some websites support it, and it is interesting, but I never saw one on Forumotion forum. But, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. When it comes to this, you should wait for staff reply.

Is your generated iframe working after you used it or?

Update, the only thing I found is a widget called "The most tagged keywords". So, when people tag things, you will get the result what was mostly tagged like a number list. Example:

No I don't think I did . It is huge . But maybe I did . You don't recognize it as a forumotion widget ?

Okay . All of my questions have been answered .

I figured out I created the index in my portal . If I want to up to update . I will have to do it manually .

I changed the structure and hierarchy to what I want .

I don't have enough conversations to assign the discussions .

I doubt forumotion provides that type of tag .
