Google meta tags

Can someone tell me where to put the google verification tags coz google cant find it

admin > display > generalities there is a section saying meta tags click create new and the enter the right bits in the right places.

That i did but google say`s they cant find it

you need to make sure its the top meta tag and that there isnt any multiple >'s or "'s
