Categories not visible?

When I make a category (eg Announcements) and then I make another forum for it, also called announcements the category is not showing. I even joined announcements to announcements. I clicked the forum, and inside is nothing...help please?

You don't need to make a different category for an announcement.

Just while posting any topic, check the box to make it an announcement.

In admin panel
Display>Structure & Heirarchy

Split categories on index, check the medium option.
