The best way to do it is to contact your government office for copyrights.
you can also go through the chamber of commerces Washington dc u.s.a.
You can do all this by mail.

be sure to get as many images copyrighted at once(as a package). you can even have them under the same name to save money. and be sure to have a international copyright on them as well.

it will take a few weeks to go through and you can even contact your government office or the Washington office online. you will have to dig around and search for a bit until you find the right places. But start by searching for your government offices first.

then after everthing goes through. they are your images you will own them and no one can use them without your permission. If they do then you can sue for copyright infringement..

so that's it in a nut shell. there are more legal aspects and options but you can get all that info when contacting the right government office or the chamber of commerce.

hope that helps a Lil. i used to have links to the proper places to go for this but seem to lost them. if i come across them i'll be sure to pm you with them all.

If you have original content on your forum (pictures and such) the general rules of the internet state that people should give you credit, however there is little chance of this since the internet is full of people like me.

If you really want to get serious business about it all you could call in the lawyers. But I doubt that'll work, just look at the copyright crisis in the music industry.

People steal, upload something to the internet; it will get stolen, get over it.

Well that all depends my friends?
Honestly i would not go through the trouble to get images of tags or buttons copyrighted. as far as a logo? may be depending if i plan to make some money from it.

but yea unless you have someone making millions off your copyrighted images then there would never be any reason to take any such actions as trying to sue or prevent someone from using the images.

But the man asked how to go about copyrighting. So i explained and tried to give him some pointers on how to go about it Smile

i'll tell you what ? let me see someone try to gain profit form any of my t.h.s. logos. i'll have there butts in court before you can even blink... hahaha

oh here's a good example.
look at my avie. that was made from a good friend mine and very talented artist.and everthing he creates and post or shares with others is first copyrighted.
now he dont care people share or use his work for certain things.actually he encourages people to share his work. but the minute someone tries to make prints or profit from any of his works. he would sue the socks off them and win too.

but dose he care if people share his works? no not at all

Down . . . what do you mean this is spam? You aren't talking about the two links I shared, I hope . . .

@Dark Takua . . . I haven't seen or heard about a link on forumotion to help forums concerning website content copyright. Forumotion won't be copyrighting anything on your forum for YOU. You need to do this for yourself.

You could be a little nicer, and say thank you . . .

Wasting time copyrighting stuff won't help. At the end of the day any Tom, Dick and Harry can right click and save anything he wants.

I highly doubt you'll want to get lawyers involved just because of a "stolen" image. If you don't want people to use it, don't post it.

well that's not for you to decide.
This thread was started from someone asking how to get something copyrighted. what they do with it and any legal aspects after the fact having there copy written materials is up to them.
every thing else is irrelevant and off topic.. this is not a discussion about copyrights and a wast of time it may be?If that were the case i would agree with you almost 100%. hell you nailed it on the head with the whole music industry thing Dawa .

but it's about someone asking how to get something copy-written.
he has some info and some insight now. what he dose after that is on him and any legal actions if he decided to approach them are his decisions and dealings Cool

@Kirk

Humph, well the amount of times I've heard kiddies talking about how they're going to copyright stuff which they've made without understanding how serious the whole business is.
