Solved RECORDING A CHAT

I am so sorry if this is dumb I have tried everything and can't find what I need.
Simple how do I record a chat going on please to post later to members?

Chats go on for hours so am I making an error in not archiving at a certain time etc?
I just screwed up one recording and I don't want to do that again.

Does clearing mean all messages disappear?
We have authors come on and chat to around 10- 30 ppl so it can get busy but I need to record author replies.
Thank you so much for any help you can give me as I have no one helping me.

Nopes, only 195 messages get saved in the chatbox archive at any time.
