Banned, Critical Error
Hi all
I have had within 24hrs two members of my forum come back to me in emails saying they have tried to logon and it states critical error and they have been banned from the forum ?
I have looked in their profile and they have not been banned as I am the only one who has this facility on the forum to do this.
Can anyone help as I cannot get them logged in even after changing their password for them.
Regards
Richie

Re: Banned, Critical Error
Hi,
Have you by any chance IP banned them?
Admin panel >> Users & Groups > Ban > IP Ban > remove any (unless you know any for a fact was meant to be banned, then leave it), and if you have any address similar to 192.168*.* or 192.168.x.* then I would guess that, that could be the cause.
If that doesn't work, or there isn't any there, just double check the profile isnt banned again, and if not, please let us know

Re: Banned, Critical Error
Just unban any members listed in the ban lists. Check the boxes for the ones you want to unban and press the unban button.

Thanks Base one of the members is back on line and I have left a message for teh other one to get back to us.
Just one point we are a closed forum with no guest able to see anything until I authenticate who they are and only then I activate them.
What I am finding is Guest when looking "Who is online" are able to see inside the forum! That is why I was banning the IP address.
I have doubled checked my settings on all "Forum Permission Controls" and they are set for members only.
How on earth are they getting in as the forum on some post give out email address and phone numbers and I thought we were sercure.
Any help again would be appreciated
Regards
Richie

Re: Banned, Critical Error
Even if it says guests are viewing the forum, it does not mean they are exactly seeing the forum. More likely they are seeing a page that says to see this page you need to register.

Re: Banned, Critical Error
Does it say that guests are viewing certain forums or the index?

Re: Banned, Critical Error
Regarding a guest seeing a topic -
What it is, is that the Guest/user knows the URL of the page, and is looking at the page, but what s/he see's is different to what you would see.
The Guest would see a page saying that they don't have access rights to that page, and it would be to the theme of your background.
Where as, a logged in user whom does have permission to access the page would see the topic & posts.
For example, access this topic, which is in a private part of my test forum:
=> http://testorial.forumotion.com/t88-
That is the same thing that this guest would see
