Yes forumotion places ads on your forum unless you pay for credits to remove them. Forumotion forums are completely free and the ads pay for the costs to keep the service running. If you want to get rid of the ads and still remain in compliance with the forumotion TOS, you will need to buy credits and use them to remove the ads for a duration of time.
