ad free group
I am not sure I am in the right topic--but if I have to purchase a new forum to be ad free--then what do I do with the credits I have here with my free forum? I bought them so I could keep this forum ad free--not to have to purchase another forum. TY

Re: ad free group
The credits are not lost you can use them to pay for a Advanced package that will remove ad's for you.
I understand you don't want to pay for a Advanced package only the ad's to be removed but you can no longer do that.
Sadly there is no other way to go back to the old system that part is gone now sorry.
It would be a sad day to see your forum go and we do hope that you don't leave us.
best regards.

Re: ad free group
This is very sad as I thought we actually found our home here, we are all comfortable in this site. But I am sure forumotion knows many people even live on limited incomes and this might be a nice way to converse and enjoy other people by having groups. And when you are asked to pay to keep a group ad free we can understand that, but now more money for upgrading and so forth really can begin to dig in a pocket. Not to be cheeky, but some of these people can barely afford medication let alone keepiing up a group. Wasn't there another solution to this?

Sadly all over the world free forum hosts are going down hill even closing down. I know that with out this news system we would be one of them to think about shutting down. We have been running on ad's alone for lots of years now and it's become not enough to keep us going.
All of the staff here work for free to give you all 24hrs support and even we are finding this hard to keep our forums running.
I have closed down 2 of my forums out of the 3 i have had and now only run one site and help in 3 others.
as i have already said sadly there is no other way that the way we are going now.
Think of it this way I don't think there is any Free host out there now that will offer to just remove ad's from the forum.
I think they are all going the same way as we are, and the ones that have not gone down that road yet will ever close down or they will go this way in the end.
Re: ad free group
Hello,
Just to sum up with Ape said real fast, this was done out of nessecasity to survive as a company in an ever changing world. It was not done to be greedy or make extra money. Forumotion stayed on it's old system as long as it feasibly could and did everything it could to avoid going down this way, unfortunatelly no matter what else they tried it is inevitable, they either had to adapt and make packages, or cease to exist altogether.
Trust me, we are not all that happy we have had to this either, but I hope you will understand the reasons why we HAD to do it.

Re: ad free group
Thank you for explaining. I have no clue what we will do yet, but whatever it is we will miss this site. This is one place we didn't have lots of problems with. Thank you again.
Re: ad free group
Well once again, we do have a free package, the ads are only at the top and not so bad. I dealt with them for many years beforing getting rid of them just last year. Just know Forumotion is still free and always will be. You only need packages for optional extra stuff like ad removal.
If you truly feel you must go though, then go for it I guess, but I think you will find all the other providers do it the same way as us nowadays .
