Users limited to 1 account per email address?

Hello,

First of all, I'd just like to say how delighted I am with Forumotion. Such a great experience so far - so concise and user-friendly!

I tried searching for a similar issue and couldn't really find any topics that had solved my issue. I'm not sure if there's a more relevant place to post this topic, but here goes.

I'm the admin of a forum (currently I'm the only user) and when I tried to make a "test" account to pilot my board as a "regular member" it won't let me register a second account under the same email address my admin account is registered under. Is this a feature I cannot get around?

I am using the forum as an RPG and I know users will need multiple accounts, so the best solution for me would be either:

1) A way for accounts to be linked under a single email

or

2) A way for multiple accounts to be registered to the same email address

Is there something I'm missing, like a feature where I can control the number of accounts registered to a single email or am I dead in the water? Please help!

Hello and welcome

You can not have more than one account with the same Email address the servers hold the data for one member with one Email address…. the reasons for this are

- If you have one account and it's hacked then all your accounts could be hacked at the same time
- if you need to ban an account by Email address for some reason then it would have problems banning the Emails as they are all the same
- if you need to reset your account password then the system would not know what account to send the new password to

Welcome to the English support forum.
Also to add to  what skouliki has already said we use Email addresses as part of our security to each account.
