finding an ip address

i have seen a users ip address appear in the ban control
but it has disappeared. how do i get it again?

Are you saying that you banned a member and placed the IP address in the ban control page and now it is gone?

i was going to ban him but i wanted to wait (and his ip address showed up then)
now (3 days later) i want to but his ip address is not showing up anymore

If he has not posted anything, his IP address will not show. It only shows if he has posted or when he is logged on to your forum.

Yes. When he is on, go to the your administration panel and look at the bottom right of the first page that loads. It list who is online and gives the IP addresses of who is online.
