how to move a single post to an existing topic
I've scoured the place for something previously asked and answered but I can't seem to locate anything . . .
What I want to do is move a post: Just one post within a thread within a forum to another forum in another thread already generated.
As it stands, I can't seem to do anything but move the entire thread and/or when I have to do that, I still have to create a new topic for what I move to what forum.
How can I do this? I've got posts that are clear trolls that I'd like to have moved to a place where I keep this sort for my records without having to keep renaming the topic.
Too, I get posts made not on topic or that should be within another thread, some that are already created by some user.
Help please?
Thanks!

Re: how to move a single post to an existing topic
I would thing you would need to split the post from the topic and then merge it with the other.
Re: how to move a single post to an existing topic
If you split, you still have to rename it another topic. I just checked how that would work and I don't see it working like that. Got another idea? Seems we are on the same page but still not quite getting there.Paradox RP wrote:I would thing you would need to split the post from the topic and then merge it with the other.
Thanks for your help too.

Create a topic called Troll Posts, them split the posts you want and then merge those posts to the post you created.

I think its the only way it can be done. when you spilt it just name it something like troll:1 and then when you merge it you@ll only have the one topic.
I can't figure anyother way to do it, sorry.

Yea, that would work if it were within the same forum. But this is cross forum platform on forum. If you go to www.airgunsinc.org and view the forums, you'll see categories and then topics within each forum. Say I had one in one thread started in a forum called Pellets and Bullets. But lets say that this new tread had posts within it that really should be in another, like say Off Topic and Break room. Now, I don't want to move the entire thread there to the Break Room. I just want to move that ONE post within that ONE thread from that forum to another thread topic that has been already started within the Break Room.slg wrote:Create a topic called Troll Posts, them split the posts you want and then merge those posts to the post you created.
If I understand you correctly, you'd be creating a new topic thread within the same forum and that doesn't help moving the single post to the other forum.
I'm not good at articulating this kind of thing. Am I making sense? Hope so. Got me scratching my head on this one.
By the way, those emotion icons here, can I get those for my forum as well?
Thanks!

Okay, I gotcha now. You are right.Paradox RP wrote:I think its the only way it can be done. when you split it just name it something like troll:1 and then when you merge it you@ll only have the one topic.

The trick is that you have to create a bridge between the forums by first getting the posts moved to the other form then, while both the post wanted to move and the destination thread in the same forum, you can then merge the topics into one thus moving the targeted posts in need of moving to the targeted thread.
It's like having to create a directory and using it for a clip board just to get it in the same house as one of the rooms that you are targeting. THEN, when you have the posts in the same house (translate into forum here), you can then move the targeted posts to the same room (translate into thread here).
I see now that you can't just jump from one forum thread to another forum thread:You have to use a stepping stone of some sort. Nice thing about it is that you can still do multiple moves at the same time within one thread to the other, of course, using the stepping method.
Thanks!
It's working for me even if there is another way and, for now, I'm happy with it.
I'm marking this one solved.

Since this thread appears to be solved, I will lock this thread and mark it as solved.
