My new member said they couldnt post a link and I was scratching my head until I found it lol. It is a good addition though and well done. I would like to be able to stop individual members from posting links etc

Slite bug i found in this new link stopper is that if you post the link with a gap in it like this Fake link Http: // mixedup .com it will still show up and the member can still post it
i got a new member to try itout and it worked fin the only think they cant do is click the link to the site

An external link is any link that is not connected to Forumotion or your forum I believe.

Nice update !

To stop new users using external links is just plain silly. On my forum if new users can't post a photo using a link to photobucket or facebook, then they'll just give up and probably never come back.

Sorry but I think a far more effective anti-spammer option would be to put all guest posts and (optionally) all posts by newly registered users into a moderation queue. If their posts never appear at all then they'll soon give it up as a wasted effort.

Furthermore, a more effective captcha system would be appreciated. The spammers cracked the standard captcha towards the end of last year. On another forum that I administer I've had only one spam post since I activated the Q&A captcha system 7 months ago.

Uncheck the boxes for guests in the permissions.
