suspicious activity page
Hi,
It seems that one of my members reported this, and it's the first time I've seen it as well. Is this because of the new safety system that forumotion has enabled?
Thanks

Re: suspicious activity page
99% that you don't get your forum back. Read this topic - https://help.forumotion.com/t69823-onlineguardian-what-to-do#450111
Well, click Contest this decision, if you want to get your forum back, but, as I said I don't think you will.

Re: suspicious activity page
All you can do is contest the decision to onlineguardian, once onlineguardian step in it no longer has anything to do with forumotion
@ gassy. that seems a little rude stating it that way, we do not know what violations were on the forum and it would be up to onlineguardian whether to restore the forum or not.
And yes it is true the majority of the time no one gets their forum back, but it is not impossible if you make a good case and there has been others that have after they contested it. I guess it comes down to what the violations were, Most of the time for onlineguardian it is because of illegal file sharing Meaning sharing (copyrighted materials)
mc~ If you do not get your forum back, you can always create a new forum and just be sure to read all TOS, follow it, along with moderating and maintaining all post that are posted as you go along.. I am sure just about everyone that has been doing forums and have had forums for a long time have all gotten a forum shut down one time or another..
So you just learn from your mistakes and be sure to do a better job on enforcing and not break any TOS.
INFO ADDED
Wait??? this is not saying the forum was shut down but there is suspicious activity.
I dont understand this, it must be something new,
I will see if the godfather knows what this means? odd

Re: suspicious activity page
Exaclty the message says suspicious activity related to your account or your computer. It is weird that it does not say suspicious acitivity on your forum.

Re: suspicious activity page
It's not because of Forumotion's security. It's because of you. You broke the TOS.

Hi,
To all, please read the text within the screenshot
Please also read this post from Godfather (2nd last paragraph), it's what the problem is about
=> https://help.forumotion.com/t100504-new-option-to-complement-the-anti-spam-system-on-forumotion-forums#651276
Mc~, as you have said, Yes, the reason for this coming up is because of ForuMotion's "Background" security system has detected something suspicious happening on your account - it could that your posting words that are classified as spam, such as 'Viagra' to that you posted alot of posts in a very small period of time - there are many reason's, and alas, I cannot inform you of a definitive reason as to why this pops up, nor why it came up specifically to you your your colleague.
However, I can confirm that as you have put it, is because of a recent security update.
All you have to do is confirm yourself as a human being, then you should be fine

Re: suspicious activity page
According to the member that reported that to me, that happens to him when he tries to post on the forum. So it's not just when he tries to go inside the forum.
I dunno if it happens sometimes or always. I asked him what was he trying to post that made this pop-out but still no reply since he still isn't online.
Oh I see, I had a feeling it had something to do with that. Thanks!

LOL good one?
Yeah well i passed it on to the godfather, so we'll have to see if he can shed some light on it.
To me it seems someone may have just reported this member somehow, because how else would it detect someone, and it's not like it's happening to all the members? plus this is the first i have ever seen it.
But i have had yahoo email accounts and even my facebook come up with something similar to this before, usually if i am logging in from a number of different computers and ip addresses from the different locations of the computers i used, So it could be just something like mentioned above to just verify your human... lol
Info added
Ok like darren said abaove this explains it, from the godfather in darrens link.
On addintion of that, another active safety system works continuously in the background and analysis in real time connections and actions of your forum members and intervenes if a suspicious action is detected.
But now that raises the question what is considered as suspicious activity? lol
My guess would be probably be posting a lot of links, flooding or logging in and posting from different ip's or even proxies?
But i know one thing, i would keep an eye on this member to make sure he is not going to post something that breaks TOS or spams.
Nice find there darren that dose indeed answer what it is,
