How can i edit HTML on my site?

I recently read that if your site is using PunBB or PhpBB that you can edit the actual HTML code of the site. I was hoping to put in voting buttons, facebook and twitter buttons, ect. but i cant find where to put the code in at. Also, is it possible to choose where that stuff appears on the site?

No, im talking about editing the code of the site. I signed my site up for a voting site and i was given am HTML code to put into the site. Im looking for a way to put it on the site, hopefully on the home page. I found a way to create a HTML page under admin panel > modules > HTML page management, but thats not what i wanted as it creates a whole new page with just that on it.
