New Messages Button

Can I have some help writing CSS code that changes the messages button to display a different picture for how many new messages a person has? Like if it says "You have 3 new messages", then it can show a button picture that corresponds.

Example of the kind of pic I'm talking about:

(Except it would say "3 New Messages" or something similar)

Does anyone know how to do this? I'm using phpBB2.

It still looks the same, was there anything I needed to do to the code to make it work? I'm still learning CSS, so I don't know how all of it works yet.

Yes. I have a few other scripts working.

I don't think that will be possible, as I'm not the main admin and I'd need permission to do that first. Would you be able to give me directions on what to look for or something like that?


EDIT- I just saw it put the number in front of the button now. I guess it just took a bit to work or something. Is there a way to change the number into an image?
