Forum Widgets and Adsense
Hi all,
Well I am having difficulty in getting my adsense code to work in my widget on the right of my page.
The ads at the bottom are working no probs, it's just the one in the widget thats not showing.
I don't have ad blocker on, JS is fine etc. Any help with this? You will see a gap between widgets where the ad goes
(without table).

Are the widgets themselves showing up?

Re: Forum Widgets and Adsense
The widget is there, I just chose not to have a table for it. Hence the gap where an ad should be. With or without the frame of the table, the ad still does not show.

Where exactly on the right side does this ads widget appear?

I will put in a table so you can see where it goes, then it will look like an empty table. Will that help?

Re: Forum Widgets and Adsense
I am trying to show the ad.
I have never had any probs with showing the ads, but for some reason it just does not show in a widget. It does on my other forum though, so it's just this one.
Edit: And thank you to SLGray for trying to help!

Re: Forum Widgets and Adsense
Can you please provide any codes that you have used to create this advertisement? Thank you.
Re: Forum Widgets and Adsense
I copied the code directly from google and put it into the widget.
I'm not comfortable with posting my code here. Its just a normal run of the mill adsense code.

Re: Forum Widgets and Adsense
If you want, you can cite the code or pm me the code. The reason why I want to see, is to view if there is any silly mistakes within the code or if you're missing something..
Re: Forum Widgets and Adsense
Here is the code with edited stuff. the only thing I added was to align centre. This ad works fine on another forum.
<div align="center"><script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "PUBLISHER ID";
/* NAME OF AD */
google_ad_slot = "9560525261";
google_ad_width = 160;
google_ad_height = 600;
//-->
</script>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script>
</div>
EDIT: I have tried other codes within the widget and none work.
I have done all I can think of to fix it, including removing, deleting, reinstalling etc... I just cant get it to work.

Re: Forum Widgets and Adsense
Seems like you're missing JavaScript, that's why it doesn't appear.
Yeah, I tried it on my test forum and it seems that it doesn't work. You're missing another piece of coding. JavaScript would be it..
Hayley wrote:Hi CJ,
Thanks for your help so far!
I have another forum I use as a tester where I try different stuff out, that is at http://www.aussielapbandtalk.com/.
It has the code in the widget working fine.
It seems like the code isn't even there although it is. Just looks like an empty widget!
Thanks for taking a look.

Re: Forum Widgets and Adsense
Hi CJ and thanks for your help. Do you think you can elaborate on the 'missing JS'? Cheers
Edit: Thanks, I will do some more looking into it then.

Re: Forum Widgets and Adsense
It has tags that are meant to work along side JavaScript. Can you please provide me the URL of where exactly you got this from? It seems that you're missing that. In the forum that you pm'd me, http://www.aussielapbandtalk.com/ Check if there isn't any JS. (ACP >> Modules >> JavaScript Management (All the way at the bottom).
Re: Forum Widgets and Adsense
there are no js in the aussielapbandtalk forum. the settings are the same for both forums.
I got the code directly from my google adsense account right after I created the ad. It creates the ad code with everything needed. I have never had a problem with their code, and it works every where else but that dang widget lol.

Re: Forum Widgets and Adsense
Replace the whole code that you have inside the widget, with this:
Should work.
- Code:

Re: Forum Widgets and Adsense
Can anyone help me with this?
Why can't I use the widget in the normal way? Why would I have to put CJ11's code in for the ad to work. Is there a fix for this so that I can just use the widget normally and paste a code into it?

Re: Forum Widgets and Adsense
Hello,
The code that I had gave you was a separate code. What other goolge adsenses are you planning to use?
Regards,
Sir Chivas.

Re: Forum Widgets and Adsense
I would like to be able to experiment so that I can have the most efficient ads working on my site so testing out a bunch is the best way to do it.
The problem with the code you gave me are
A) It shows one ad and one ad only
B) Google adsense does not recognize that it's on the page
C) It's against Google Adsense TOS to mess with their codes.
The code should just fit into a widget like it does everywhere else and work just like everywhere else. I need a fix for this, not just a bandaid.
No offense to you at all, I appreciate all the help so far!
