Post by Daisi2 February 24th 2013, 11:24 am

This doesnt work Ric as the member is NOT banned and is not showing as banned anywhere on my forum. There is no names in method 2 to "unban"
She is showing as active and not banned in method one.

Yet when she tries to log in it gives this message

Critical Information

You have been banned from this forum.

I cannot unban her as she is not showing as banned and has never been banned on my forum.

Can someone help with this please?

No she has never been banned Ric. She logged in on Friday normally and then sent me an email the day after to say she couldnt log into the forum and that it was telling her she was banned, all very strange.

It might sounds weird. However ask her to delete her internet cache and delete cookies as something like this might be causing the error. I mean if you can log in fine and she can't it must be something of an issue on her end.

First of all are you are moderator of the forum or an administrator?
As only administrators can unban members, unless the admin had also added the moderators to the administrators group(the one with the crown.) As only admins can access the admin panel, which you need to do in order to unban a user.

If that is not the case, it could be either that you have banned her email address or her IP address by mistake.
Or it could also be that her account is deactivated, which may also be the reason.

If it is none of those things it could be a fault in the forum software or system that needs to be fixed.
Though you say you have tried changing her password and you can log in from your location but she cannot.

So another possibility could be her Internet Service Provider(ISP for short)
may have blocked access to the site.Which sometimes happens although there is no reason FM should be blocked.

Hi Andrea

I am the founder and Administrator of the forum, there is nothing showing in my admin that she has been banned.

I think you might be correct she did say in her email to me that she had changed isp so maybe as you say that is the reason.

Do you know how she could solve that please.

Solved Re: Member Say's She is Banned

Post by Guest February 26th 2013, 2:48 pm

Well when I said the ISP could have blocked the site. I was speaking from my own experience last year, when MediaFire was blocked by most ISP in England for a few hours. Which was, people in the UK could view the site, but not logi n or anything.

It turned out that the Internet Watch Foundation had blocked Mediafire for a few hours due to an objective file someone had uploaded. But the next day it was unblocked and everything was back to normal.

But I think it's unlikely that any ISP would block Forumotion sites.
Unless your forum is hosted on a custom URL and not Forumotion.com.
Though even, then I don't think so, but to be sure, you should ask that member to telephone her ISP just to make sure.

Though if they were going to block a website she would not be able to view the site at all.Though you said she can do, but cannot log in.
So I think this is a technical fault that needs to be fixed by the Forumotion staff.

My Sincere apologies SLGray I was unaware that we were forbidden to reply to posts, I have never experienced that anywhere else before so please forgive me. I thought it was polite to answer a direct question asked by someone who is trying to help you obviously I was wrong. I was asked a direct question by one of your helpers he specifically put at ? mark at the end so I didnt know i was forbidden to answer him.

You say it is my second reminder, i dont see the first maybe i am missing something.

I take it you cant help with the problem? If you read up the posts you will see i do not have any inactive or banned users.
