Claim a domain name before mine is getting expired.
Hi all!
Thanks for looking into this. In about 75 days from now, my domain name will expire. How can I reserve another before it's too late? I got a pretty good idea what it should be now. I wanna claim it atm, but I can't.
Samantha.

The only way to claim a new domain name before your current one expires is to buy outside forumotion from Godaddy or another site like that.
Your other option would be to delete the current domain name early then purchase a new one how you normally would.

And can I prolongate my current one before anyone else claims it?

As in the current one you have already?
Yes you can renew it one month before it runs out. But once you delete it I think it goes into administration and I don't think it is purchasable for a period of time.

Re: Claim a domain name before mine is getting expired.
Thanks, so deleting it is not my best option. To summarize my options:
- Delete my current domain name and request another with FM, setting me back to the original domain name, temporarily, and losing 75 days worth of membership
- Delete my current domain name, stick with the original site name and request another with Godaddy or something similar, but I will lose my board on FM and 75 days worth of membership
- Stick with the current domain name and prolongate it with FM within a month before expiration
- Stick with the current domain name and request another domain name with FM one month before expiration
- Stick with the current domain and do nothing, so I will be back to the original site name
Thanks for the info, Derri. Could a staff member confirm these, please?

Hello,
Those are your options. What would you like to do?

Hi Base! Thanks for your reply.
Well, like said before, I want to reserve a certain domain name, which is probably still available at the moment. But I want to make absolutely sure it is, so I can claim it, before deleting the current domain name, which is www.game-xtreme.com . What's my approach here? I still want to be with FM, maybe someone can check it's available for me?
Thank you!

Re: Claim a domain name before mine is getting expired.
Well, with regards to reserving a domain name, the only way I can think of is to purchase a domain name externally and the redirect it for when your current one expires.
I have also checked the domain name that you PM'd me and it appears to be taken unfortunately.

Thanks for looking into this Base. Appreciate it. That's a very sad mssg to me, but you cannot do anything about it. How can I check it myself in the future?

Re: Claim a domain name before mine is getting expired.
You're welcome! I simply went onto another forum of mine without a purchased domain and entered the domain to check its availability.
Re: Claim a domain name before mine is getting expired.
I should have thought of that .
Well, thanks again to you and the FM team and keep up the good work !
