hello

how much time has passed ? cause if it is a long time since the domain has expired you will have to hold on for Godaddy to let the domain go back on sale.

is this your forum ? https://imperialgunnery.forumotion.com/

It's been under 30 days .

Forumotion has been my host of for over 12 years!!

I need it back, I've deposited the money for the renewal. The Email address was from my former employer and I forgot to update it.

Solved Re: Expired Domain, help!!!

Post by Luzz Tue 12 Dec - 18:19

Hello,

I am really sorry, but it is no more possible to renew it, you came to late.

Now, you have to wait until you domain name will be available again, this means generally about +65 days after its expiration, this is the rule of Godaddy. Once the +65 days have passed, it should be available again and you will be able to purchase it via Forumotion AP.

But it will be NOT reserved by Forumotion, and no notification can be send. It will therefore be your role to check availability regularly and to take the domain again.

Best regards

It is so called "redeption period" on Godaddy.

Normally (I say "normally", but of course I can't guarantee anything) nothing will happen, and +65 or +72 days after expiration date you should be able to buy the domain again...

See more about it here : https://www.godaddy.com/help/what-happens-when-my-domain-expires-609

Dear @Darthberizing you need to understand we buy your domain name for you from Godaddy.

Now your Admin panel will tell you your Domain is about to run out.
It is your own respectability to make sure you keep track of when this will run out. The system gives you lots of time to do so.

We are not responsible for your domain running out.

You need to understand if the domain name was took back we can't do anything about it. Most of the time we can help but sadly it was took from our control.

I spoke with them on the phone. Sounds like you're maybe thinking I'm making it up, here's a screenshot when I was on with them 20 minutes.

In short they said that, while yes expired , you can reclaim it thru your internal process. There might be a small fee involved but no doubt it can be done.

They also suggested that, if you weren't helping, to fill out a form to claim it myself.

I'm sorry but our head office has looked at this and have already said we can't get it back on our system.
Luzz is from our head office and if she has said that we can't get it back for you then we can't. Our system can only buy a domain if it is free on a list.

Right now Godaddy has not listed your domain for sale on our list so our system cannot buy it.

If Godaddy are saying this then they are wrong our team would not lie to you about this. we would want you to buy it from us but it really is out of our hands right now.

Sorry.

So you're telling my GoDaddy is lying to me?

I want an answer in writing please. I'm contacting GoDaddy because one of you is lying and I need to understand who. According to them, it can 100% be retrieved. Every day it's getting closer to being available. I dont have any idea why GoDaddy would lie about this.

Is it possible that it takes a call to them from Forumotion? Maybe not just clicking a box??

like Luzz and I have already said we can't help you sorry.

We don't own the domain Godaddy does. on our system it is just not there if it was we would give you it back and take your credits for it trust me if it was there we would be happy to help you but we really do not have it on our system any more.

I will point out that if the address was back on sale by Godaddy then you could re add it on your Admin page.

As for having it in writing well you have it here in black and white.

You will just have to hold out until the address is on sale again or ask Godaddy to give you it as a CNAME just means we have no control over it at all.

@SLGRAY

I might be a shaved ape, but I'm more than capable of understanding when they tell me you are able to get this domain back. I spent 20 minutes on the phone.

To be clear, they say yes it's possible. It appears forumotion is simply looking at a list, not seeing it, and throwing up their hands saying it can't be done.

I'm saying that GoDaddy is stating it can and , perhaps, it's more than a cookie cutter process. As stated above, there is a small fee involved which I am happy to pay. My guess would be that it's not a cookie cutter look-at-the-list process.

I'm happy to help in any way I can. Since GoDaddy doesn't show me as the domain owner I dont have some PIN needed to futher this. Give me the PIN and Ill do the work happily!

Solved Re: Expired Domain, help!!!

Post by Luzz Fri 15 Dec - 10:34

Hello @Darthberizing

So, as I explained you in the PM, the problem is not that we don't see the domain on our board. The problem is that the "normal" conditions to renew the domain, which are the the conditions specified by our service Forumotion, are not more available and that the condition to renew the domain is to pay 80$.

You say that you want to pay this price and don't understand why we are refusing this.

I already explained this by PM, but I will repeat it here, with more details.

Forumotion offers a service which is well defined: you can obtain a personalized domain name for a defined, single sum and renew it every year for the same price. You know that it must be renewed once a year. Before it expires, 4 notifications are sent to you: 60, 30, 7 days before and 24 hours before.

Even after it expires, you still see the button to renew it for a few days in your AP.

Even after this button disappears, latecomers come to support, and, as long as possible, we do what is necessary to renew the domain and re-attach it to the forum (i.e. the PRO staff asks every time a technician to do this manually, and normally it is not their job ! Normally the PRO staff does not offer any personalized, individual service, please remember this!), and believe me, we have plenty of latecomers!

We don't have to do it, but we do it.

Now, you are asking us for a service which is not at all provided for by Forumotion, which will mobilize several people from the team - and when we refuse it, you ask why.

Because this is a service that we do not offer. Thank you for comprehension.

Best regards

Hi @Luzz These domains are already expired and impossible to renew, when Godaddy puts them up for sale again, can forummotion buy them to offer them? or it is definitely impossible to get them through the AP

Hello jucarese,

When Godaddy puts them up for sale again, they are available again for purchase through AP, like any available domain. So you can buy the domain via Forumotion, like you do when you choose a domain for the first time Smile There is no difference.

I'm really shocked to see you write that you wont do something because it might require some extra work. Ive been a paying customer since 2009. It's sad that you can't help me out, when I'm willing to pay, because it might mean you have to do something extra.

And yes, my Email was disconnected and that is on me. So I don't need one of your staff members being rude and sarcastic either.

This is really an eye opener to how you run your business.

I am sorry, but I think there is a deep misunderstanding. You pay for a package, not for additional individual services. We have no differences in treatment between non-package users and users with a package. Your package has a list of features included in it, and domain renewal after the expiration date at $80 is not included in it.

I completely understand your frustration, but I also hope for your understanding: we cannot add new services at the user's request.

I would also add to this, that if it was just a little additional job, we would do it for you. But again, you ask for an absolutely new procedure that we will have to organise exceptionally for you (and this means now, for everybody who comes to late and wants to pay nevertheless).

Thank you again for understanding.
