Allow users to send email to each other
I know there's an option members can set in their own profiles. "Allow users to contact me by e-mail." I would like to set that option to "By a website form" by default. If the user then elects "no," that's ok.
How can I do that? Thank you.

Re: Allow users to send email to each other
So you want members to be able to contact each other by using their websites?

Well, user profiles have a setting called, "Allow members to contact me by e-mail," to which the options are:
a) By a website form
b) By e-mail client software
c) No
Now, it's reasonable to assume that option a means if you click the email icon, the forum will present you with a form to send the email, keeping the member's email address private, while option b means if you click the email icon, it's like clicking on an HTML mailto link; your email client opens, and the member's email address is not kept private.
In any case, whether it does or doesn't work that way, what you're suggesting I meant is just plain silly. How could the forum control what someone did from their own website?
I think it's clear from my original post that I'm looking for a way to allow members to send each other email via the forum (to the email addresses used to register) by default, without requiring each member to unclick the no option in their profiles.
Now, if that can be done, and you know how, tell me. I'll be most grateful for a helpful answer.

Re: Allow users to send email to each other
There is no global setting for that. Each member has to set it up in their profiles.
