Someone made a carbon-copy of my forum
Greetings,
This is an unusual "problem", and I want to see for myself who is doing it.
My forum AIM Games has most of it's audience in the age group range of 9-16. A lot of them do not like my decisions to stop any baiting or flaming, and so, I think this is the reason why someone, whom i can't tell since he also copied word-for-word posts from my forum (the original), on to this mock-up forum here.
Now, our community isn't that large, so I know most of our members. What I'm about to ask goes against Forum etiquette, but i'd really like to get the IP address of the person who is maintaining this mock-up of a forum, so that I ban his IP address. I'd also like to see other details, and this mock-up forum deleted, since it's just plain stupid, and in some posts he is painting a bad picture about my forum's senior member and above groups. Taking our private details, also irks me, like what country we're from, the sort.
What can I do to get this forum deleted and for me to know who exactly is maintaining this mock-up?

Thanks for replying quickly.
Is there a character limit for the Description? It's going to be a loooong description.
"Link on the forum", the whole forum is a copy, what do I put here?
"Username", again, what do I put here since I have no idea who is copying my forum? I'd like to know who is, or are copying my forum.
"First Name", I never ever ask people for their first name, or is it my first name?
"Association / society", what do you mean? My forum link?

Re: Someone made a carbon-copy of my forum
I am not sure if there is a character limit for the description, however for the best result I would advise you to keep it as concise as you can and get to the point immediately as there are a lot of litigations to be dealt with.
The link on the forum can just be the forum index.
I believe it's the username of the founder.
Your first name.
Association / society is not obligatory so you can just leave that.

Re: Someone made a carbon-copy of my forum
Hello, I support you, if its a full copy then it must be deleted I guess.. cant the admins in here provide with the email of that forun? That way you can get to see who did it.. (if he used the same email ofcourse)
Re: Someone made a carbon-copy of my forum
this is a good question how do we know if he copy you or you copy Him/She.. how would forumotion know
Re: Someone made a carbon-copy of my forum
Forum Creation... I created my forum back in March 2009, this one started 4 months ago. There are a lot of important topics which the fake forum did not copy from my forum. All you need to do is look at the founder's join date.
Forummotion have access to our founder accounts, and can check if all the users on the fake forum are posting from the same IP address or not (which is likely).
Also, the fake forum is still up. I sent litigation to notify them that I know the fake forum exists, but it has not been stopped. Can someone please get rid of it already? It's a huge troll, and is mocking a few of us on my forum.

The litigation is sent to Forumotion. If the forum is indeed breaking our terms of service then they will be forced to remove any violations. If they don't remove the violations then the forum is banned.
Re: Someone made a carbon-copy of my forum
The only thing is copying posts from other forum is not really breaking the Terms of Service. If the other forum contains copyrighted images, codes, etc then they will be breaking the Terms of Service.

Re: Someone made a carbon-copy of my forum
In that case they are using images made by members on my forum, including my own avatar which you can see to the left of this post as the avatar of the fake admin on the fake forum. Or the logo of my forum, which I made with the help of the users of my forum, on the fake forum?
So you are going to leave it there? Not going to check whether it's one person posting from the same IP-address, even if most posts only have 2-3 minute gaps in between? My own forum award signatures (2012 + 2013), all 35 signatures of them which I made from scratch for my community, found on the fake forum? Even everyone else's forum signatures & avatars that they made?
Do I have to remind you what a I mean by carbon-copy, meaning the copying of exactly someone's profile (~60 fake profiles) including their own custom-made signatures from requested artists on my own forum, on to the fake forum? It's a huge list of signatures made from my forum, I'll be happy to list them all.
Yes I'm being very pedantic and very demanding, I'm not stopping until I get my point across, even if you have to deal with 100's of forums everyday.

Re: Someone made a carbon-copy of my forum
Well the images will have to be copyrighted, meaning there has to be proof somewhere that the creators copyrighted the images they created.
I can upload a image I created, but that does not mean that it is copyrighted.

Re: Someone made a carbon-copy of my forum
Alright then, how do I copyright all my signatures? Even if in the signatures it is written "AIM Awards 2012" "AIM Awards 2013", my forum's name is AIM.
Re: Someone made a carbon-copy of my forum
I believe that IP is correct. AIM games has been around for a long time, and now someone has tried to copy his hard-worked-on forum. I have been around on the AIM forum for a almost a year now, and IP is constantly working to make it better. There was most likely a jealous member who wanted to make a forum just as big as IP's and later on make it look like he had put all the hard work into it, when IP really had done everything. My point is please, disable the carbon-copy forum, signatures and profiles were copied over to the new forum (i have checked).

Re: Someone made a carbon-copy of my forum
Hello there.
I am from the original aimgames forum. IP's one, and I'm really disliking this huge copy of aimgames forummotion... From what I've heard is that it's been up very recently, it is quite obvious as you can see in the posts, the earliest post I can find was posted on June 2013: http://prntscr.com/2x80tu (screenshots provided for evidence) and http://nfmaforum.forumotion.com/t20-thought-on-nfmm-s-new-update
And about evidence, my profile on the fake aimgames doesn't even have a signature and it just has my profile picture, and it says I've only posted 6 times... for example this post: http://prntscr.com/2x8e9k whereas on the real aimgames, which I am pretty active on, for example this post http://prntscr.com/2x8f0o you can already tell what it says on my profile, how many more posts it has and the signature, on the fake aimgames there isn't even a topic on Kinetico's images and sigs that I replied on...
Just... Please, take this down, it's horrible seeing a more or less exact copy of aimgames with the profiles and images signatures that people worked hard on to make and just simply copied on it and the owner thinking it's completely fine. I am just as angry as IP is on this, I really find this copy of the forum a complete knock-off, I mean, it is so obvious, and this has been attempted before, do not get me wrong on this, as seen on this link: http://newaimgames.forumotion.com/ so it could so be the same people copying the forum ("aliff01" and "the-buster-zx"), also because on the "newaimgames" the owners of it were actually banned from aimgames and had a bad reputation. I also find it a bit amusing, also on this post when 2 people from the real aimgames went to check it out http://prntscr.com/2x8bs6 because hey, look at the post count on the fake aimgames from IP and SinfulBliss they are hugely dfferent and on the fake aimgames there are alot less posts. Firstly, comparing IP's REAL profile and the fake profile: http://prntscr.com/2x87fn and http://prntscr.com/2x89la and the fake one: http://prntscr.com/2x87od http://prntscr.com/2x8ae0 - (Before SinfulBliss' profile got deleted when this admin took over aim when IP wasn't here and deleted a few accounts, long story) notice how the posts are dramatically different, the join date is different, and the friends list is different (I don't know how I am IP's only friend on the fake aimgames). Aimgames was created around 2009, whereas this one was created in early 2013.
...And yet we only found out about it recently.
Need I say more?

Re: Someone made a carbon-copy of my forum
I'm also here to support IP. I've been a member of his forum for quite a long time now, and actually I have seen even more copies of his forum around, but not quite as offensive as this copy.
The amount of members that are being faked is high enough for the administration of Forumotion to take at least some kind of action. Honestly I'm quite offended on how humiliatingly did I (and my friends) get copied over. Even the real name of one of the users was posted, and others avatars/signatures used as well. Even the awards images were copied.
I'm not going to write an essay about how horrible of a copy that forum and how miserable the creator's life must be, because most of the details have been already mentioned above. I really do hope that action will be taken regardless of the TOS.

Hey IP. I am here to support you too.
This is Toa from the AIM Games forums.
I am pretty sure that the creator of the fake AIM forums is "the-buster-ZX" because I have checked the "Administrators" group in his forums, and it said "Group Moderator: the-buster-ZX".
That made me believe it's him.
Also, I'm uncomfortable having my information on the fake forums and I know that IP has created the AIM awards himself.

Re: Someone made a carbon-copy of my forum
Hello,
I am a registered member of IP's forum since September 2011. - http://aimgames.forummotion.com/u1138
Recently, as mentioned, IP had discovered a carbon copy of his very own forum not long ago. From what I've seen on the carbon copy forum; forum profiles, signatures, images and even certain topics have been copied word for word. The AIM Games forum has been around since 2009, and since discovery, an unknown user has been attempting to make an exact replica of IP's very own forum, years of hard work. The work of this fake forum started somewhere around mid-2013 according to the very first user's join date of that carbon copy forum.
I have also noticed that my username, profile and avatar were copied word for word as well in the carbon copy forum. I have checked myself upon first inspection before the administrator of the fake forum deleted my account. (which was under a different alias) - http://nfmaforum.forumotion.com/u60 (The account on that forum has only been created 2 days ago as of this post) However, my signature hasn't been copied into the fake forum, which contained several images, especially by IP.
This has seriously annoyed me as well as with the other members of the proper AIM Games forum. This has occurred more than once, as Ultimato mentioned with the "new aim games" forum, which may have been caused by the disobedience from the members who decided to break the rules of IP's forum.
Also, IP annually hosts the "AIM Awards", and he makes the images for the members. Those images were no exception to copy towards the carbon copy forum of AIM Games, as certain signatures were also copied to the nfmaforum. I am not very comfortable with my details being put on a website without my permission, especially if it's a carbon copy of a forum.
The main point is, IP, along with the other members are utterly annoyed, and want the forum http://nfmaforum.forumotion.com/ to be taken down.
In support of IP.

Re: Someone made a carbon-copy of my forum
Hi, I'm Ragamuffin, a member of the AIM forums in which have been blatantly copied by someone. Not single person on the AIM forums, aware of this problem, can identify who it is. I have suspicions on who it is, but I can't say. There was an account made called koner1. That's me. koner1 was my name on AIM off and on for the 3 and a half years I've been on the AIM forums. There is ONE single post on that account on the fake forum, you can see it here:
I never posted this on the AIM site. I do not even know of that song, period.
This is what my profile looks like on the fake site:
You should see that a lot of the fields say the same thing. On my AIM account, "I'm winner!" is written in less fields than appear on the fake site: http://prntscr.com/2x95q7
I put "I'm winner!" on my AIM profile about a month or so ago. My fake koner1 account on the fake forums was made 4 days ago, on the 28th of February.
I am in full support of IP, who is the admin of the official AIM forums. I hope you guys her at Forumotion can help us.
Thanks, Ragamuffin

Hello, I am also part of the AIM forum that InhumanPwnage himself self created.
I am Psychopsilocybin on IP's forum http://aimgames.forummotion.com/u1627
I've been there for almost 2 years, and I've seen users who at some point copy his forum, but not as bad as this.
Frankfully, I am very uncomfortable with this user who is impersonating the original AIM sharing information that is private.
Not only that, IP stated the troll stole images from the original forum to his fake forum, and I will say this:
The images he took were mine.
I am not happy right now finding out that my own images have been taken and used. These images are mine, and mine only. I worked hours on them, only to have someone be so low and pull
a stunt like this.

Re: Someone made a carbon-copy of my forum
Hi there, I am also apart of IP's forum aimgames, which has been created in 2009. I have seen the mock forum he is talking about, and it has a bunch of active members from the original aim games, and the majority of those members have the same rank but those accounts weren't created by the people from the original forum (including myself.) They have copied clans, signatures, aim awards and even the actual background that says "Need for Madness, the offical aim game forum."
This forum only has documents from the original, none of its own and it's clear it was meant to be a mockup. I do not like my info being copied and I believe the forum should be taken down.

You didn't answer my question:
IP wrote:Alright then, how do I copyright all my signatures? Even if in the signatures it is written "AIM Awards 2012" "AIM Awards 2013", my forum's name is AIM.
You didn't say the moderators were not part of a "litigation team". Simply says "staff".
Major thanks to the amount of support I got up there, I guess now we have to send it all to another staff and hope all goes well.

We can not give you answers, because we are not part of the litigation team, so we do not see the reports. We have read and understand the Terms of Service ( https://www.forumotion.com/en/create-forum/terms-of-service.htm ) that every person must agree to before creating a forum.
