Solved Domain Transfer

Post by PBJ September 5th 2014, 8:58 pm

I would like to transfer my domain outside of Forumotion.  I have a godaddy account, and surely the domain can be unlocked for transfer. My email address is listed on the contact information as such.

Hi,

Unfortunately domain name transfers aren't possible, if you bought your domain name through Forumotion.

See this thread:https://help.forumotion.com/t128121-domain-name-transfer

Is there anyone I may plead my case to? I'd like to move my domain over to my own account.  The reasons listed for not doing after it was purchased, and not free.

Sorry I'm afraid there is nothing we can do. Its the company we're affiliated with who set the rules on domain name transfers.

I paid for the domain - I'm not asking for a database, but for a domain that I did purchase through forumotion.
Less than a year ago you were allowing for domains to be moved if the users contacted Sanket, however now you do not?  I'd really like to ask Godfather if this can be done.  You guys are using Godaddy...

Here's our pro Admin answering the question. https://help.forumotion.com/t131513-need-to-use-current-forumotion-domain-name-on-a-new-host#881630

There is now no exceptions.

While I can appreciate that, there were exceptions made years ago when the domain was purchased through you guys, and there have been no agreements updated saying I would not have access to the domain or agreed upon renewing it.  Nor was I updated saying you'd no longer honor other transfers.

It truly would only take a few minutes of one's time to transfer a domain, so I'd like to get access to the domain that has been purchased.

Well when you purchased a domain name you were never informed you could transfer your domain name. It was done previously on a case by case basis and due to specific changes in policy that was taken away. I've given you the only answer you're going to get. If you PM Buttercup you'll get the same response.

I do apologize but there is nothing we can do.

Its not Buttercup or The Godfather who has made this descsion so asking both Buttercup and The Godfather wouldn't help because it is not FM who has made this decision.

Is there any chance to have someone update the DNS for me to point elsewhere?

You could set the homepage of your board to an HTML webpage and have the redirect link on it.

Hello PBJ

Forumotion doesn't allow members to transfer domain names outside. Here you can find the announcement: https://help.forumotion.com/t128122-domain-name-transfer

Thanks for your understanding
