Need to use current forumotion domain name on a new host
Hello, I'm just looking for a bit of advice. I won't say the actual domain name just now for a couple of reasons, I'll just write example.com
-I have the domain name example.com which is a forumotion forum
-I want to be able to use the domain name example.com on a different hosting site (the different hosting site will have a blog, and I want example.com to be the domain name for the blog)
I basically need to transfer it in some way, but I've read this thread here:
https://help.forumotion.com/t128122-domain-name-transfer
So it looks like you can no longer transfer domain names? Can any exceptions be made at all?
From replies on other threads it seems like most of the moderators on here will say I need to wait until the domain name expires on my forumotion forum and then just purchase the domain on the other domain registrar. There's 2 problems with that:
-My domain name expires in September so I can't wait that long (is it possible to cancel my domain just now? And would that let me then purchase the domain name on another registrar?)
-I can't take the risk that someone could get in there before me and buy the domain name before I get to buy it
So how do I get around this problem overall?
Thanks in advance

Others have asked this question and the answer has always been that there isn't an exceptions. However I'll pass this onto our Pro-Admin who'll be able to determine if this is possible.
In terms of cancelling the domain name...the problem is here that sometimes the domain names can go into a period of administration where they cannot be bought and this period can be a couple of days to weeks or even months. Furthermore anyone who could have possibly back logged this domain name could possibly get the domain name.

When does this domain name expires? You also can cancel the domain name in the administration panel and wait until it is available again.

It expires in September, therefore he'd have a long wait and if he cancels he runs the risk of the domain name going into administration for a period of time or if it backlogged it can be automatically taken. For example my old domain name was cancelled a couple of weeks ago for buying a new one and its still in its administration period as if you type it in, it takes you to an FM page saying 'this forum doesn't exist'

Fingers crossed some sort of exception can be made then, the future of my site will really depend on this. Just to make it clear though, I'm not going to stop using forumotion, I just need this domain for the blog side of things. I'll still be running all the forumotion side of things and putting all the usual payments in (which have been a lot recently due to the size of the forum growing significantly) so hopefully the pro-admins can help me out here? I realise there are some implications regarding moving a domain name, but if the pro-admins are reading this, I really hope you can also take my current situation into account as well as those little implications.Derri wrote:Others have asked this question and the answer has always been that there isn't an exceptions. And thanks for clearing that second part up Derri, it looks like the pro-admin's decision really is going to dictate everything then.
Thanks very much for the help.

Hello T.R24,
Thanks for your trust. I perfectly understand your problem. However, there is no exception to transfer domain name.
