In progress Paypal question....

Post by efbe October 23rd 2014, 11:31 pm

Can some one please give a straight answer?. will Paypal be re-instated?
Every time some one posts a similar question, the answer seems to be 'Our technicians are working on it or are working on an alternative payment similar to Paypal'.
Then the topic gets marked as solved or locked which leaves members here in the dark regarding Paypal.
The other options of payments to renew my url or remove advertising are no good to me, i won't or can't use them.
So before i go off planning a move away from Forumotion to another host which i don't really want to do, can some one just give us a straight answer? Will Paypal be back and when?. Surely some one must know, or is Forumotion just covering up the fact that Paypal will not be reinstalled?

Hello efbe,

I cannot say if payment via Paypal will return, as I don't work with the company. However, as mentioned before, an alternative is being worked on. This of course was delayed due to the datacenter migration. Also, Buttercup has mentioned :

efbe, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for PayPal to return. I just lost my domain waiting. Good luck to you.

Thank you for replying AngeTuteur..... but after reading Blackscorpions response in another topic after he made contact with Buttercup, it seems we have no other option than to use Allopass or Hipay, both to me are untrusted payment methods and which i might add, i can't use anyway.
As you can see by Blackscorpions post above, he's already lost his forum with over 700 members, you can read it here https://help.forumotion.com/t108372-blackscorpion-s-gokart-bazaar-forums
How sad is that?, he's built a great forum with a strong membership base and now it's gone, and how many others out there will be in the same boat soon.
I still have a bit of time up my sleeve before i need to buy credits for 2 forums i run, but it won't be hard making the move to another host if needed.
I have been with Forumotion for 7 years now, we have had wonderful service in that time, I've always recommended Forumotion to friends who want a good free forum, but it seems to me that Forumotion is slowly losing the plot and will probably lose members who buy credits via Paypal for their forums as well.

You can still use your forums without a domain name.  Purchasing a domain name is an optional feature.

Yes SLGray, you can use the forum without a domain name, but it's not the same when people already know your personal URL. It's convenient and everyone already knows it.

The system for donating is the same as the one used for buying credits it will no longer give you a way to pay by paypal  as you can see here.
Paypal question.... Captu100
There is no other way to make a payment right now but we are still looking at other ways to make everyone happy.

Adding a new payment system is not that easy as we have to make sure it works with our systems and for everyone that is going to use it.

we are really sorry this new system is not with us yet but as you know we have had a lot of problems with a change of data center and new servers.

I'd also love to be able to pay via Paypal, I'm in the same boat as OP. Going to PM Buttercup and see if there is a way to get my domain name renewed before I lose it. This thread was helpful to me, thank you.

We've all been having this same problem, but if you reach this stage, you must PM Buttercup like she has offered and who is very obliging and will help you to get it sorted.

All I have to say is, I Hope you guys make out better than I did, as for Buttercup, there is really nothing she can do, she just an employee. All she can do is report it to the higher ups, whom seems to have their heads up... well you know what i mean. I will soon be closing down my second forum with over 500 members, due to my dissatisfaction with the way Formation is changing things. I don't think the higher ups realize what they are doing. I would really hate to see Formation go down the drain but it appears that where it's heading with the decisions being made. Perhaps that was their intention?

I think you give the money to Buttercup, she gives it to Forumotion, and then you get your credits.

Please do not post something like this.  Wait until Buttercup replies to see what she says.
