New timezone management
Dear members !
We are very happy to announce an update of the timezone management on Forumotion forums.
The timezone settings are much more precise now : you can be sure that the forum will show the right time according to your location.
However, you will see, as the choice of locations is much larger than it was before, you and your members have to make some little adjustments.
It is important to choose a Timezone which corresponds most closely to your geographical location.
Don’t forget, there are 2 different Timezone settings to consider on your forum:
So, if you are the founder of the forum you have to check both of them. The members of your forum have to adjust the second one, in their profiles.
1. Forum Timezone
This is the Timezone set by default in members profiles. It's also the Timezone used when non-registered users see the forum.
Admin panel >> General >> Forum >> Configuration
2. Personal Timezone
When you are logged in, click on "Profile" on the top of your forum
Click on "Preferences" tab, just above the frame.
Go down and stop just before the Save button and choose the Timezone according to your country/area

I had a time issue as well, but later on it fixed by itself. It was one hour ahead for me, New York time.
Re: New timezone management
Forget my last post. I just figured it out. Means all our members have to do it. Including me.

Re: New timezone management
Would it be possible to make system timezone default for all the users? Right now it is Abidjan (UTC +00:00) and it means, that all users have wrong time unless they change it.

Re: New timezone management
No sorry all your members will have to change it make a news letter or a thread on your forum telling them there was a system update and the members will have to update there profile.
Also note that when you change the board make sure to resynchronize your forum for the change to be made faster.
If the change on your profile has not changed please clear your browser cache to speed things up a little.

Re: New timezone management
as it says all the old system was removed and it was updated so all timezones are set at default system time so all members must change this in there profiles and the admins have to change the forum times in the ACP there is no other way to do this.
Sorry
Sorry
Re: New timezone management
How come the default system time is Port Moresby UTC+10 and not UTC or Central European Time at least?

Re: New timezone management
Its how the system was made Sorry there is nothing that can be done now its gone live we have already made the change t the servers. to play about with it again will only mess up things and then we will have bugs again. it will take all your members a matter of seconds to change there settings.
Re: New timezone management
Making a default setting option shouldn't be that hard for devs.

Re: New timezone management
The time that set as default was +10. We should change it from the Admin Panel and inform members to change it from their profiles! Thanks for the warning! Saw it just on time!

I think he meant more like we force the default time like how the update did to us.SLGray wrote:The default is the one you set in the administration panel.Tonight wrote:Making a default setting option shouldn't be that hard for devs.

Re: New timezone management
It appears my time zone is off one hour ahead. I will wait until this weekend to see if it changes when daylight savings time ends.

No. Not sure what is happening....thought maybe it had something to do with daylight saving time ending in a few days.
Re: New timezone management
This is a new update. You have to change it in your profile. Pick the nearest city to your location.

Re: New timezone management
there was absolutely no reason to change this
not every founder of forum is still active on forum so he can change this!!!!

Re: New timezone management
There was a problem with the old system and it come out that there was lots of bugs so we made a new system that was put in place to fix the bugs.Dachone wrote:there was absolutely no reason to change this

There is no going back to the old system as it's now been removed from our database.
Any Admin that have ACP rights can change this in the ACP and all members can change there profiles by them self.
Re: New timezone management
To everyone: This was an update that effected every forum's timezone management which means you have to change it in the administration panel and every member has to change it in their profiles. You need to pick the nearest city to your location.

Re: New timezone management
The List is much too long. We in Europa have only three timezones (but 25 countries have the UTC + 1:00) it is not necessary to list every capital of the 25 countries.
BUT: CAN YOU PLEASE translate the names of the capitals in the board language? (respectively to the profile language)
Re: New timezone management
The language names are translated into its language.
For example, Albanian is stated as Shqip, which means Albanian language in albanian.
