Is there any way I can create a link on the homepage for the members which will show them all their unread posts.

Well, if you'd like it to view your posts so you can easily see if someone replied, go to your Administration Panel => Display => Homepage => Headers & Navigation => Nav Links => Press "Add a customized menu"
Menu name: Whatever you'd like
Picture: add the link to your picture if you want one:
Text: Anything
Redirection URL:
See if that works.
