Changing domain name
Hello
Our current forum name as per the ACP is:
bachandbachettefans.forumotion.com
The domain name is:
bachandbachettefans.net
I would like the proper name to be:
bachandbachettespoilerfans.net
Is it a matter of just changing it in the ACP-Forum-Forum Address? If so will the old url address be redirected to the new name?
I apologize, I wasn't the original founder so I'm not familiar on the set up.
Not sure why the link tags are not showing up properly.

Re: Changing domain name
You need to put http:// before links to show. You will need to cancel this domain and buy new one if it is aviable. You can't just change domains what you buy wat end with .com .net .biz or .org at forumotion.

Sorry, I don't understand the bold.
Thank you.
Re: Changing domain name
You can not edit it after buying a domain name. You have to canceled one and purchase a new one.

Re: Changing domain name
Does that mean http://bachandbachettefans.net was a domain that was purchased and not a free forumotion domain?
Re: Changing domain name
Yes
Domain names only end with .com or .net
Free links will be like .forumotion.com.

Re: Changing domain name
Well this could be an issue. The former admin must have purchased the domain. When it expires, I'm sure a notice would be sent to her email and I won't be aware of it.
She has not returned since August 2013, no one had passwords for anything.
Would forumotion be notified by any chance that the domain is expiring?

Re: Changing domain name
I believe not. Does anyone have access to the founder account?

Re: Changing domain name
Everything was switched over to me. I created a new email account twitter account etc. because no one had her passwords to anything.
It seems to me I had a message months ago on the ACP advising me the domain was expiring but I could continue it's free use. Would that message not come from forumotion? That's why I asked, I remembered something about that.
I will have to investigate further.

Re: Changing domain name
You have to use the founder account to access the domain name option.

Re: Changing domain name
Hello
You have many options. Via the administrative panel you can:
- Renew the current domain name for free (the forum has a very good activity so the renewal is free)
- Change the domain name! However, if you delete the current domain name and return to the original url of the forum:http://bachandbachettefans.forumotion.com
- Then you can buy a new domain name for 1600 credits
Please note that removing a domain name is not good for your traffic! Before deleting the domain name I really advise you to inform all your members with a global announcement and a newsletter. Otherwise, they won't be able to enter your forum...
If you have any question, feel free to ask

Thank you so much everyone. I understand the options now. It doesn't appear to be in the forum's best interest.
Topic is solved. Much appreciated.
