Receiving 'You Haven't got the rights to access this page'

Hello,

Yesterday night, one of my moderators was trying to reply to a topic using the advanced editor, he was trying to reply and post a link about a certain thing relating to a topic (the link was to a 3rd party website). When he tried to post the message he received 'You haven't got the right access this page', he report the problem to me, I asked other staff members if they ran into a problem and they report no. We ran some minor tests, he could reply through quick reply and even quote someone, but the second he tried adding the link in, it gave him the message again. We thought maybe it was a one time problem thing and let it go. This morning he tries again, gets the same message, he is on a tablet similar to mine, he cleared the forum cookies and still had the message. So I told him to just quote the member and write your message and I'll edit it and add the link, now me being the Founder I have access to everything, I tried to edit the post and add the link, even tried using the button as well (before it was just copied without bbcode or buttons) and hit send. To my astonishment, I was GIVEN the message as well. That is when I knew it there was something wrong that wasn't a permission issue.

Why are we getting this message, if the Founder doesn't have the right to access that page... who does? No one? Why are we getting this?

What is the link you're trying to post ? If you cannot post it, try spacing it.

It is the link to a set of speakers from best buy, it is in response to a member posting about them... we often try to do more research on things our members post about.

Apparently I can't post the link here.. not even with the code tags, it gives me the message.

It's not that link exactly. It looks to me like best buy has been blacklisted, because posting just their website URL returns this error message.

So is there anyway to remove it from the blacklist? I mean I know money exchanges and stuff like that can be risky and considerex break the tou, but we do not do cash trades or any illegal buy or selling and the stuff there, we just research and sometimes post a link to a good deal on equipment people can use. So best buy being on the black list can naturally at some point down the road himper this.

Is there a way it can be removed from the black list?

I've sent a report to Buttercup for clarification, but since it's almost the end of the work hour we'll most likely have to wait until tomorrow. Anyway, if you get this error while posting a link, it generally means that the website you're posting has been blacklisted.

If I well understand the problem there is one topic/subject that one member and you (founder) cannot access and you got the message "You don't have the right to access this topic..."

Could you please send me:
- The direct link of the topic
- The username of the other member having the problem

EDIT: I just checked and indeed the website is blacklisted form our forums due to abusive spamming. Unfortunately, we won't allow this website to be displayed once again our service.

Thanks for the reply Buttercup, so there is truly nothing that can be done? I mean I totally understand the reason it was/is blacklisted, however, the link was being posted so harmlessly and legitly in response to a conversation.... I mean someòne is bound to try posting again, it is not against the rules of my forum to link to 3rd parties. What I am trying to say is, that it is more of a long term himpering pain then anything, so if there is ANY way to get it un black listed, I would be more then happy to do whatever it is.

So if this website is Black listed, are there any others? I am only asking because I may just create a list of websites that members can't post to. That way, they can save themselves the trouble of even trying?

For this website there is nothing we can do. Of course, we have a list of blacklisted websites but I cannot provide you this heavy list. You just have to explain your members that even if if you allow them to display external links on your forum, some of them could be disabled by Forumotion. The reason is they don't fit with our ToS or are used for spamming our forums.
