Chatbox Notification
Does anyone know how to make a sound when someone responds in the chatbox if you are connected to it? Also if this is possible, how to make it able to be turned on and off via chatbox option or profile option?
Re: Chatbox Notification
With the current chat box, i don't think it is possible.
However you can with the chatbox found on AvacWeb

Re: Chatbox Notification
We posted various codes to modify the chatbox on the homepage a few months ago. You can find them here :

There's various ones, notification included.

@Sir. Mayo
I'll give you my two cents:
$01 - Stop these statements that this or that can not be done on the chat box;
$02 - Stop doing advertisements of avacweb's chatbox because it is nothing more than a JavaScript running on top of the chatbox and whatever he does, others can do!
The impossible is just a matter of opinion!

My answer is often always based of a different thread with the same exact issue and taken from the replies that other users have given and often times answers from staff members. I'm sorry that my statements may offend you. I Do not think i was sending adds for Avacawebs chat box, Let me ask a @derri or @ange tuteur if i was breaking any ad rules?
Re: Chatbox Notification
We had discuss this issue in the staff area. Posting links to Avacweb can be considered advertisement if done in a certain way. The best thing to do is not post the links to Avacweb too often. Also you can send a pm with the information.

Re: Chatbox Notification
Ah yes I always send my recommendations for awc through pm. Although I want to give my honest opinion on this whole avacweb posting thing, FM is a pretty good forum service, so don't get anyone as this is NOT an attack on fm, but simply my personal opinion.
Fm is a good forum service, but their chatbox stinks, yeah it has gotten a little better, but it still isn't as good as good as it could be, just because avacweb developed a great chatbox that is awesome, has many features and has users' suggestions and feedback in mind and an overall better chatbox, does not mean that FM should just consider it against the rules to post about it. Why not just make a better chatbox? Then we users with suggestions would not have to relay on AWC. I and my forum use awc, we havent turned back since.
Again, please, don't anybody get offended on this as it is just MY personal opinion.

Have you experienced disable Forumotion's chat box?
If you do that, lamentably the AWC code will stop working! That's because they didn't a chat box, just a MOD.
It is a very interesting code, but it is still just a MOD on top of a Forumotion's chat box, not a real chat box!!!
I respect your opinion and I hope you understand me...
@SLGray
You're right, end of discussion.

Re: Chatbox Notification
A mod to make a bad chatbox better is still 20x better then the actual thing... So yeah. I was just giving my opinion, it can vary for you and your entitled to that. Just dont get offended about my personal opinion.

No problem my friend!
But what I think is unfair anyone speak ill of a system that by itself is enough, speaking without having a minimum of notion about PHP or difficult to do something on a server that is accessible to millions of users around the world!
In my opinion the FM chat box is great, flexible and stable, the rest we do locally with MODs.

Re: Chatbox Notification
Look, all was my opinion, the ONLY problem I have ever had with FM's chatbox is their chat timeout, I understand why it is there but I would like the option to disable it, you say that avacweb chat does not actually disable the timeout and it probably doesn't, but what it DOES DO is take the ANNOYANCE of the chat timeout out. That is all my MEMBERS wanted, thats all I care about. I don't mind the feature itself.
