Invision Power Board
Hi,
I was just wondering what is the current Invision version of Forumotion? Is it IPB 4 yet?
And if it isn't IPB 4 will there ever be an update to it?
Thanks and sorry if my question is on the wrong place and time.

Re: Invision Power Board
Hello,
I believe forumotion's version of Invision is an older version. Please be advised as well that it is not the official version of invision and has been modified by Forumotion to ensure it works properly on its system. We do not control the updates as that is on the techs, I don't know if they plan on updating if at all or not. I know there is a suggestion concerning that though.

Hi and thanks for the fast reply.
After I read your answer and know that Forumotion's Invision is of an older version, are there any benefits and or minuses when using Invision against phpBB3 or such? Or roughly, which is better for eye-candy forum (since I think there is no differences in any of the forum software when it comes down to how they works)
Thanks
Re: Invision Power Board
Well, honestly I don't know which one is better, I have only ever had phpbb2 forums. I know phpbb3 allows for more customization options and ablities along with codes out there for just about anything. Invision seems to be (based on my observations) a little more high tech and fancy and allows for a lot creativity and fancy high tech stuff like slick drop down menus etc.

Re: Invision Power Board
Invision forums has some different things like the memberlist, drop-down profiles in messages, etc.

With phpBB3 having more ways to customize doesn't that mean that it could also have those slick drop-down menus and even more stuff?brandon_g wrote:Well, honestly I don't know which one is better, I have only ever had phpbb2 forums. What about Invision's one? Do you mean that Invision could edit Templates and such while phpBB3 can't?
Is it something that comes with default or is it have to be added manually? And is it unable to be done when using phpBB3 or other forum?SLGray wrote:Invision forums has some different things like the memberlist, drop-down profiles in messages, etc.
Re: Invision Power Board
It is by default.
You can edit templates in all forum versions.

Say, if I have a tricks that works previously on phpBB3 that uses CSS and JS, will that also work when I redo that for the Invision forum?SLGray wrote:It is by default.

Re: Invision Power Board
Each forum version has different CSS selectors. Some codes could not work on all versions.

Re: Invision Power Board
Well they could work, but you would have to modify the selectors and stuff to the correct ones first.
