Guest posts and PM's.

Just picked this up from my administrator:

Here is the PM that was in my inbox today when I signed on. How does a Guest make a post or PM anyone? Does anyone else get these? Is our Forum that easy to hack?

We also get guest post from time to time!!

Does anyone have an explanation or better still, know how I can prevent this?

Notice in the title that it says [Contact].  That means someone press the contact link in the footer links at the bottom of your forum.

Guests being able to post is a matter of permissions, you guys must have it set so guests can post. To prevent this, go to the forums in question (ACP--->General-- categories and forums), untick guests from 'Can write and reply'.

@brandon_g Guests can not pm unless you have the setting in the footer to contact you

That is why I said posts, not pms. I was not disputing what SLG suggested. I was addressing the fact that the topic starter said guests have also posted. Which is what I was replying to.

Brandon.... neither I or my admin could find 'Can write and reply' or anything similar but anyway APE's step by step worked perfectly.

May you look while using the advanced mode and advanced permissions? If you are using advanced permissions, you should see it.
