photos uploading sideways
I have to say I am loving the ease of uploading multiple photos, much easier than before.
However, I have some members who have uploaded photos and they have come out sideways. They say they are the right way up on their computer and they have done nothing different to how they have uploaded before.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this sorted please?

Re: photos uploading sideways
I do not see anything wrong with the images. The only thing I notice is how the image was taken.

Re: photos uploading sideways
This image has posted sideways. The lady says that it is not this way up on her computer. I saved the image and it automatically saved it the right way yet when I tried to repost it, it turned it sideways again.
I am sure it is something simple that I am just missing as I haven't had any problem uploading any of my photos

Re: photos uploading sideways
Is the member using the host an image button in the editor?
I just tested it, and you are correct. For some reason, the images are being rotated when you send them.

Re: photos uploading sideways
yes she used host an image button, not sure if she dragged and dropped or selected the image not that it would make any difference

I'd ask her because it could possibly be the reason.

Re: photos uploading sideways
For some reason I stumbled upon this link which has something to do with the hardware used to capture the image. Though I tested to download the photo in sideways, it was in the correct portrait orientation when it appeared in my laptop.
One recommendation on the link is to open it in any free image editor software (mine is MSPaint) and save it in regular .jpeg extensions. Maybe it could fix the problem.

Re: photos uploading sideways
Thank you for your response Poser. I shall have a look at your link. Saving it in a psp did solve the problem but does't really let me know why it happened
Thank you for your help

Re: photos uploading sideways
Having spoken to the member I know she took the photos in portrait. So rotating them and saving them using an editing programme shouldn't be necessary as they are already the right way round
