Option for members to 'Hide my online status' has disappeared from Profile Preferences
Technical Details
Forum version : #Invision
Position : Founder
Concerned browser(s) : Mozilla Firefox
Who the problem concerns : All members
Forum link : http://krazykats.forumotion.co.uk
Description of problem
We seem to have lost the option in Profile > Preferences for a member to choose to hide their online status; i.e. 'Hide my online status' (tick yes or no).This is the option that should come between 'Allow Newsletters' and 'Always notify me of replies'
(I have taken a screenshot but unfortunately not technically-minded enough to upload it up here.)
After the 'Allow Newsletters' it now goes straight to 'Always notify me of replies' - and also the list from there on has jumped in about 2 inches and lists down under the o YES / o NO part.
Re: Option for members to 'Hide my online status' has disappeared from Profile Preferences
Hello,
To upload an image/screenshot to the forum, just click on the icon with an image of a picture with a floppy disk on top of it, once clicked, it will bring down a drop down with a box that says 'drag images here' or 'Select files' , hit select files, find the screenshot on your computer and double click it, then hit upload. Once the image is finished uploading, hit 'Send all' , once this is done, it should automatically insert the image into the post, then you can send it along with your message.
We will need that screenshot to help you with this issue. All users should get this option, as there isnt an option (atleast that I remmeber) in the admin panel to disable this from showing.

Thanks brandon.
I have tried all that, but failed. Error report says: "312. Your file type is not allowed"
Very frustrating, because I have tried uploading screenshots here before and simply cannot get the hang of it.

Have you modified the template that deals with that page?

I think I might have done - inadvertently. Some time back I was trying to make it that only admin/mods could hide their online status - and I may have deleted the whole option at that time. Is there any way I can get this back?
Re: Option for members to 'Hide my online status' has disappeared from Profile Preferences
You can delete the modified template, unless you have other modifications you want to keep.

Hello @kaykay
Please do the following step to see if this make it come back if it does then we can work on getting this fixed for you.
ACP >> Display tab >> Templates >> Profile >> Force the default templates : YES Then save
now go see if this has put it back.
If it dose then we can work on making the change to your templates back to the way they should be.

Does that mean 'Force the basic CSS' ?
As far as I know, these are the only modifications I have made (and that was following advice from a question here on the Support Forum):
a:link {
text-decoration: none;
}
a:hover {
text-decoration: underline;
}
If I force the basic CSS - and then add back the above, would that do it?
ETA: Aah, I have just seen APE's reply before sending this post. Thank you APE, I think that answers my question. I'm going to try that now.

Re: Option for members to 'Hide my online status' has disappeared from Profile Preferences
An admin should still be able to change whether a user can hide or not, when you click a user's profile as an administrator, you will see at the bottom 'Administrate this user', click that, this will take you their profile in the admin panel. Scroll down and towards the bottom (down where you can change the ranks and disable pms for that user) you should see the option for hiding the users online status.
Even if it doesnt visibly appear on the actual profile, an administrator should still be able to change a user's online status using this method in the admin panel.

Changing the option will not make it disappear.

Re: Option for members to 'Hide my online status' has disappeared from Profile Preferences
Have forced the basic CSS- and no the problem is still there.
The only thing that's changed is the underlining modifications that I made - gone back to default.

No. I simply forced the default. I will delete it now. Thanks.
Re: Option for members to 'Hide my online status' has disappeared from Profile Preferences
before you mark as solved
ACP >> Display tab >> Templates >> Profile >> Force the default templates : NO Then save
Next you want to turn off the template that made the change.
ACP >> Display tab >> Templates >> Profile >> look for the red cross :delete:and click it that will remove the template and set it back to default
ACP >> Display tab >> Templates >> Profile >> Force the default templates : NO Then save
Next you want to turn off the template that made the change.

OK - I've done that now (back to front - but it worked anyway!).
