Image Transparency Problem (Servimg) PunBB
First topic message reminder :
Hi,
I'm using PunBB and Firefox browser:
I'm having a problem getting a transparency effect to show correctly in my uploaded images into servimg, via my forum Admin panel. The transparent shadow area is showing as a solid black colour, also the main transparent area is showing as a solid white colour.
Here is a slightly fuzzy screen grab from my servimg account:
I've tried uploading the images directly into my servimg account whilst being signed in. The image files are PNG files and between about 40kb-70kb. It's really bugging me trying to sort this issue out, I've even uninstalled and reinstalled all my design editing software. The transparency issue for me has been going on for over a week now, it's stopped me from doing any more design work on the forum. I also noticed on a few occasions an uploaded image was not showing in the Admin servimg panel, it was only showing the image number with a blank panel/page where the image should be. I have tried loading the photo images via Photobucket into my forum and there's no problem, but i would like to use the servimg root folder for speed and reliability. I have updated my browser (Firefox) to the latest version, i'm also using Vista 32 bit, is there an issue with servimg???
I would very much appreciate any help with my transparency issue.

Hi Michael_vx,
I've tried everything, including Imgur and other image hosts to no avail
Other forum members on here have also experienced the same transparency problems i'm having, it's something to do with Servimg.
Thanks for your Imgur tip.

Re: Image Transparency Problem (Servimg) PunBB
okay my next idea is a bit weird
get any free hosting service for example
http://www.hostinger.com
add your style images and take the direct links
and to keep the hosting from being removed make any site or a good page as index

First: Thanks for your continued helpful advice,
The reason i want to store all my small image/photo designs in the root folder with Servimg, is for reliability and loading speed. It's usually quite rare to have problems with Servimg. I use various free image hosting services and tried everything to try and resolve the transparency problem. I've even tried pasting image links from outside into my servimg account but no luck. Other members on here are also having the same problem as me.
I will now add hostinger.com to my list. I've been at full stop in designing my forum for at least 4/5 weeks now, i'll be very glad when Servimg fix the transparency issue.
I believe a report has been sent to Servimg about the issue.

Hi Michael_vx,
I tried the image you gave me and it works ok without any transparency problems but, I can already load certain image designs without cropped photo images in them and all is ok, but not all images work for me, text with transparency and effects seem to be fine, it's when i add a small photo image with transparent background that the the problem occurs. I do have a 'Plan B' (My Broken Arrow protocal) to fall back on until the glitch is sorted out with Servimg.
My 'Plan B' involves flood-filling the problem transparent background with the same colour as my forum page colour, that way the white won't show. I'm not really happy using this bypass method because i know there's still the underlying problem with Servimg. At least my Plan B method can get me rolling again with my forum design until the main issue is sorted.

APE,
Thanks for the intel and your continued support
Leviosa,
Thanks for your continued support and getting the problem fixed. I have just uploaded my image with transparency and all now seems to be working fine. I'm so glad the glitch has been fixed, hopefully it's long term. I will mark this up as solved late tonight.
Thanks all,
