Solved Access Administration Panel via Utilitites

Post by Ace 1 Mon 27 Nov 2017 - 11:40

Hey, I kinda ran into an issue. My forum was hacked as of July 21, 2015 and all the admins were removed (founder account email and password were also changed). The old admins I knew nothing about the backup system at the time, but even when we found out, I had forgotten the password used to create the forum. That is, until today.

I opened the utilities panel and soon discovered that there was neither a way to access the Admin Control Panel nor a way to reset the founder password. The only way I could reset the password is if I had the current email associated with the account and the only way I could access the Admin Panel is if I had the current password associated with the account. I have neither.

Does anyone know how I can gain access into the Admin Panel or reset the founder's login information?

Hello,

Are you sure it won't let you access the admin panel through direct connection with the old password?

If it won't let you, then read case 5 in this topic: https://help.forumotion.com/t127211-password-problems-or-lost-your-founder-s-password , you can send the info to any of the listed staff members.

Could you post a screenshot of the page after you log into the utilities?  There should be a tab to connect directly to the forum's AP.

@brandon_g Yeah, the thing is, I logged into the utils and tried using that same password to log into the founder account via the utils:

Spoiler:

A new tab opened that displayed this:

Spoiler:

I also typed the password in a non-password entry box and pasted it in the login to ensure I didn't mistype.

Note: I noticed this when changing the password to access the utils:

Spoiler:

So I'm pretty sure I've hit a brick wall that I can't pass. @SLGray

Good news is we can still help you, we would just have to change the foundation email, forum password and utilities password.

Please read case 5 in this topic: https://help.forumotion.com/t127211-password-problems-or-lost-your-founder-s-password and send the info to one of the listed staff members.

@brandon_g Sorry for taking so long with my reply, but this is what the case says:

I'm pretty sure I haven't lost the foundation email or the utilities password. Can you go into more depth as to how this will allow me to have access to my forum again?

When you go in to the Utilities there is a set of buttons to pick from like this.
Access Administration Panel via Utilitites Captur48 Now if you Click the Direct connection It will bring you to the ACP of your forum it may ask you for your password if you have this set on your forum before getting in your ACP.

you would then add the one you use on the forum not the one in your Forum Utilities

It will then give you rights to change your accounts as you would if you logged in as founder or admin.

Now if you can't get in that way then we will need some data from you and maybe change your password for you.

If direct connection doesn't work and dont have access to the email address you used, then we need to reset everything, forum, email address and utilities password so you can have full access to everything again.

@APE @brandon_g Direct Connection does not work. This is what I enter in:

Username of an administrator: King Xlr [the founder account]
Administration password: [the password used to login to the utils]

When I click Validate, it opens a new tab, bringing me to the screen if I had attempted to login through the forum and failed.

And brandon, I have my founder email and password. I don't need them to be reset. I need the current founder password, because the utils password does not work when I try it via the utils (as explained in this post).
