Forum address changed
Someone has hijacked our forum http://musicarenje.forum3.biz if you try to go to it it automatically transfers to another forum http://musicarenje.top-forum.net/
Any link with our forums name redirects to this other forum, why is this happening?
How can we return our forum back?
Our forum is created on 8th of January 2008 if I remember good, and has a lot of members and thousands and thousands of posts on it.
Thanks in advance on all help!

Re: Forum address changed
Thanks a bunch guys!
There is still a problem if someone has some old link to our forum it redirects them to another forum with similar name, how to solve that?

Re: Forum address changed
Hello,
It should auto re direct to your forum automatically until the old domain expires completely. Once that happens there is no longer anyway to re direct it your forum. I would just try to inform all users via announcements, newsletters and social media if you have it to inform people to go to the new url instead of the old one.

Why we can't be just musicarenje.info?
...or alike we were musicarenje.forum3.info?
...insted of http://musicarenje.serbianforum.info
After 10 years of active existence, forum has some history and users their's habits and name with meaning to somebody. This change of domain will affect us significantly.
Thanks in advance
PS: ours "old" musicarenje.forum3.biz still points to some skimble-skamble adress, missleading our users.
PPS: you can try it by clicking the "globe" icon below my avatar.

Re: Forum address changed
Hello,
- Custom your domain name
- Forumotion packages
The easiest and most effective way is to notify your members yourself, and anyway the redirection will stop at the end of the month: the old address will simply display an error page, since the domain will not be renewed.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Shadow
You may want to buy a custom domain name? If so, you will learn how to do it in these topics:PACERi wrote:Why we can't be just musicarenje.info?
- Custom your domain name

When we delete a domain name, the system automatically redirects the visitor who tries to access a forum on that domain to a forum with a similar address, but using another subdomain. This is what happens here, the old address of your forum is no longer responding, and is redirected to a forum at the nearest address. Unfortunately, this redirection is automatic and we cannot easily determine what the redirected forum will be.PACERi wrote:PS: ours "old" musicarenje.forum3.biz still points to some skimble-skamble adress, missleading our users.

Re: Forum address changed
If you are referring to search engines, it will take time for them to index your forum again. You can speed up the process by sharing content from your forum on social media.
If you advertised on other forums/websites, you will have to changes the links manually.

Re: Forum address changed
@SLGray and Shadow
Thanks for the help guys. We started to consider to buy a domain.
We will spread word for our forum on social media.
We have sent a newsletter from our forum yesterday at 17:27 CET but no one told me that they have received it yet. Is the lag so big?
Another problem is that creator of our forum has passed away some years ago. He used his private email to create forum, but we had his password for Admin (forum founder) account on our forum so we changed email connected to this account. Now we can't access forum utilities because it is still connected to the old email. Any shortcut to solve that or we need to wait 6 months + 1 day to start procedure to change it?

Re: Forum address changed
Hello @PACERi,
As explained in the tutorial, the newsletter may be delayed:
If you know the old email address, PM me the forum address, the old founder email, and the new one.

Shadow

As explained in the tutorial, the newsletter may be delayed:
In order to avoid a blacklisting of forums by email providers when sending hundreds of thousands of emails, Forumotion creates waiting lists per server and processes them per packet according to their order of arrival.
Therefore, the sending and receiving of the newsletter may not be simultaneous. The sending depends on the waiting list on the server to which the forum belongs. The more newsletters the forums send, the longer the waiting list will be, as will be the time required to send/receive the newsletters. Thus, when the newsletter is sent, it is placed on a waiting list before being sent and does not appear in the archive folder until it is sent.
We understand the inconvenience that such a possible delay in the dispatch/receipt of these newsletters could cause. Nevertheless, it is the only way we have to protect the forums against total blacklisting by mail clients.
