Problem viewing specific ServImg-hosted images
Greetings.
While we have generally encountered no problems with images hosted on ServImg, a member of my forum reported that there are a couple of ServImg-hosted images that he cannot view. So far, the problem seems limited only to him and only to these couple of images, but it is something that should be resolved and that might affect others, whether on my forum or other Forumotion forums. A couple of other members and I have tried to replicate the problem for ourselves, unsuccessfully (everything shows just fine for us), and the usual clear cache or wait longer for images to load go-tos did not help the user experiencing the problem. I hope someone can shed light on this issue and provide a solution. Here is the information I can provide:
Forum: http://onesixthfigures.forumotion.com/f1-general-talk
User system: Windows 10
User browser: Chrome, MS Edge, MS Internet Explorer
Issue: some photos not displaying (see more details below)
As an example of the issue, the user can view https://i.servimg.com/u/f62/19/88/56/50/mib3k-12.jpg
but cannot view https://i.servimg.com/u/f62/17/97/35/97/34700710.jpg
NOTE: something auto-changes the url, deleting a "62" after the initial "i" of i.servimg.com -- see update below.
When I ran these examples by him in preparation for posting the question on this forum, he added:
"My browser thinks the second photo has a resolution of 1 x 1 and shows me a black image. The first photo is 800 x 2000 and displays fine."
Thank you in advance for your time and help.
Update: an additional clue
I just noticed that the image links provided as examples above have changed the url from the original url in the process of posting the question here (and they seem to change as soon as you hit "preview"). The original url starts with:
https:// i62. servimg.com/ u/ f62/ (had to type it this way to prevent it from changing again -- the 62 after the i disappears)
When I click on the original links, both images open for me; when I click on the changed links above, the second one does not open, showing a blank (dark) window with a tiny white dot in the middle (apparently the 1 x 1 resolution reported by the user).

Re: Problem viewing specific ServImg-hosted images
What exactly is the second image? I mean what is it an image of.
I only see a white dot on a black background.

It is an image of an action figure collectible. If you insert 62 in the url between i and the dot in i.servimg.com, you would be able to see it. The system appears to automatically remove that element (the "62") and in this case it results in this for the image.

Free version. It has worked fine with other images in the past, for this user and others (myself included).
Re: Problem viewing specific ServImg-hosted images
I also see the same thing if I insert 62.

Re: Problem viewing specific ServImg-hosted images
I can't provide you with a screenshot, because it is not my ServImg account or folder (that belongs to a third member). I noticed that when I right-click on the actual displayed images in the thread (remember, I can see them, though the affected user cannot) to open in a new tab, it gives me an error message "Image doesn't exist." But I have no problem right-clicking and selecting view image, which still gives me this link:
https:// i62.servimg.com /u/f62/17/97/35/97/34700710.jpg
Perhaps you could copy and paste it in your url and then delete the two blank spaces I had to insert there to keep the system from erasing the 62. Does this help?
The topic in which the images were posted (and also reposted by another member in an attempt to get to the bottom of the issue -- his images show fine to the affected member) is this:

The only images I see in that topic are the signatures and the ones that I believe you posted.GubernatorFan wrote:The topic in which the images were posted (and also reposted by another member in an attempt to get to the bottom of the issue -- his images show fine to the affected member) is this:

Re: Problem viewing specific ServImg-hosted images
If you mean the images posted by Stryker2011, then these are the reposted ones. The original images were posted by DeltaForceChung in the first post of the topic. If you can see the others but not these (in the original post), then we have confirmation that issue is not limited to the affected user.
Re: Problem viewing specific ServImg-hosted images
I mean the ones in the first post. I can not see them. I do know there are 3 images' links in the topic when I check the CSS of the post.

Re: Problem viewing specific ServImg-hosted images
That's what I meant too, glad we're on the same page. These three original post images are not showing for one of the members, and apparently for you. They do show for me, as demonstrated by the snapshot above (it was taken after I clicked on "view image," but they also show for me just displayed normally in the topic.
Re: Problem viewing specific ServImg-hosted images
Clicked on view images?

SLGray wrote:Clicked on view images?
When you see an image displayed on a webpage (in this case in the topic post), and you right-click and select view image, it sends you to a webpage containing only that image, and allowing you to see the specific url. Like you see in the screenshot I uploaded.
Re: Problem viewing specific ServImg-hosted images
Does the member who have posted the images also have an avatar hosted by Servimg? I do not see an avatar.

The member who posted the images used to have an avatar, but seems to have deleted it. I have reached out to him but received no response. However, the problem images in question are still up and displaying for me.

same result to me also in both cases
Re: Problem viewing specific ServImg-hosted images
Actually no, his avatar is hosted by https://7img.net
Re: Problem viewing specific ServImg-hosted images
sometimes users who use Kaspersky like me have this issue cause Kaspersky has a feature called Anti-Banner that does this, replacing something it thinks is annoying advertising with a dot. But it has an overly aggressive definition of unwanted content.
The key is turning off the "Common Banner List" in the Antibanner section of Kaspersky.
open the main application window....click Settings...select Protection....select Anti-Banner... check the Enable Anti-Banner box..uncheck the Use common banner list box..ok
See:

https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firewalls
I don't know whether any other software that does (maybe Norton)

Re: Problem viewing specific ServImg-hosted images
Thank you for the suggestion, skouliki. I will pass it on to the member in question. I thought it might be something like that, but I wonder why it affects people's ability to view only those couple of images, and not the rest (which are also hosted on i62. servimg. com.
Re: Problem viewing specific ServImg-hosted images
usually, those issues come from :
Browser settings
Antivirus settings
Image host account settings

No, thank you for pointing this out. I am not even sure what this image is supposed to be.
Update: Thanks for catching this. I think this was supposed to be our forum logo, but that was taking up too much space. I replaced it with a hidden image.
Re: Problem viewing specific ServImg-hosted images
can I ask where this member got the image from my thoughts are that the image are to big for them
my next move is to re host the items that are missing and see if the problem gets fixed.

Re: Problem viewing specific ServImg-hosted images
Hi APE. The original poster has gone rogue, so I will not get anything helpful out of him. The reposted (and rehosted) versions of the images display just fine. The question the affected user had was why he can't view these specific images. I have relayed to him skouliki's advice, and we'll see if that solves the situation.
