Forum's own images not showing
Technical Details
Forum version : #phpBB2
Position : Moderator
Concerned browser(s) : Mozilla Firefox
Screenshot of problem : https://i.imgur.com/YqRN7lp.png
Who the problem concerns : Yourself
When the problem appeared : A few months ago
Forum link : https://www.thedarkcity.net/
Description of problem
The forum's own images don't load, resulting in the screenshot shown. No background, or custom icons, etc. And the layout is also affected. User avatars also do not show, but images embedded into posts/comments do show normally.Adverts on the page also seem to show normally.
I'm using Firefox, on a Mac. Both browser and OS fully updated.
I've asked around, and apparently no other user is having this problem. It just seems to be me, and I have no idea why.
It seems to also be happening on other Forumotion sites I try to visit, inclluding this one.
Additional: I have checked other browsers, and my anti-virus, and have not got any ad-blockers.
I have been advices by both Firefox and Apple (Mac) support that this is an issue with the forum, and not with the OS or browser.
On further investigation, I've also found that each time I clear my own cache, the forum momentarily works. Then, once open, as soon as the first cookie appears from the Forumotion forum, the problem resumes (no site images). I have again been advised by Firefox support that this is an issue with specific cookies coming from the forum and Forumotion.

Re: Forum's own images not showing
hello
all the forum images are loading just fine for me
my advice is to try another browser, clear your browser cache and check your antivirus settings
you can also ask the support of Mac
since this is not a forumotion issue and it is related to your device i will lock this thread

Re: Forum's own images not showing
I can not find anything in my own system that would be blocking anything from Forumotion or this particular forum, which i have used often. I have tried reseting everything several times to be sure.
Additional: I have checked other browsers, and my anti-virus, and have not got any ad-blockers.

Click the I accept the risk button.
Search for and double-click on permissions.default.image.
In the box that pops up, make sure the value is 1.

Re: Forum's own images not showing
"Load Images" is not in the options under preferences, as this option was removed by Firefox and put in domain control. By default, images are allowed.
I have also checked about:config, and the value is already set to 1.

Re: Forum's own images not showing
No, I am not seeing the avatars here.
Though I am seeing images and avatars and everything else on all other sites and forums hosted by other companies. its just Forumotion I'm having trouble with.

Re: Forum's own images not showing
I have just tried at your direction, and I even tried resetting all of settings entirely. No change. As soon as any cookies are loaded from a Forumotion page, images disappear.
Re: Forum's own images not showing
AVG for Mac.
And yes, I've already tried resetting, disabling it, reinstalling it, going throuhg it piece by piece to make sure its not blocking anything either from the particular forum, from Forumotion or from servimg. I can find nothing in there which would be blocking anything.
Its currently disabled while I'm working on this, and the problem is still happening.

Re: Forum's own images not showing
sorry any random setting can block the images
we can keep guessing and guessing
i will post my general advice again , this is all the personal help i can give you
- Clear cookies and cache
- Check image permissions for a specific website
- Some Internet security software (including antivirus and anti-spyware programs, firewalls, privacy programs, and others) may identify and block certain images as web bugs or may prevent images from animating..check the settings for your Internet security program to make sure it allows images to load
- Extensions
- If you are using any sort of web accelerator software, disable it and see if images load properly
- Enable Cookies on firefox Firefox by clicking the Open menu button menu icon in the upper right-hand corner of the browser bar, click options...Privacy & Security...in the "Enhanced Tracking Protection" section, select standard
- Open the AVG program..click the Firewall component...next to the Firewall mode option, click change...select the option "Disable Firewall Protection" (or "Turn firewall protection off")..click ok to unblock a site
