New topic notification
Hi
Just started a forum for the small village I live in.
The intention is to have a neutral portal for information, event invitations and social chatting (as FB).
What members and I find annoying is that new topics will not be notified in any sense.
I would like new topics to be notified by email or/and on mobile PWA icon.
It is rather hard to search the support forum as searches get hit on every single word, also when inside quotes.

Re: New topic notification
Hi and thank you
What profile/notifications option sets notification for new topic?
As I understand the custom push notification is just for one off push notifications, or?

Re: New topic notification
There's no option to show notifications for allcnew topics. That being said, there's the A new topic in a watched forum option. Your members can activate that, and then mark all of the forums as watched.
In fact I think I could even make a code to automatically mark all forums as watched, if you let me know your forum's link.

Re: New topic notification
Can I as Admin set the mentioned selection for all members?
I found that I can "Watch" a category (seems to be called "forum" here).
In my mobile I switched to classic and selected watch for a specific category. Then returned to mobile version and selected "Watched" but nothing selected shows only buttons for "Stop watching..." "Topic subscriptions".

Re: New topic notification
As far as I know, you can't mark categories/forums as watched for your members.
You can instruct your members to do the marking on their own. This should be viable if you don't have too many forums.
Otherwise, I can make you a code that will add a button to your forum, that once clicked by a member, will automatically mark forums as watched.

Re: New topic notification
Just a little advice you can take it or not.
If you ask your members to do this then it would be better, if you make everyone do it then you could upset a lot of your members as not everyone wants a Email inbox full of comments this is why our system was made how it is.
You give the member 100% choice on what they want to get emails for.
Getting 50 or 60+ Emails a day is a right pain and can take a lot of time up in the day just removing them and is not nice.
My advice is just let them pick what forums and topic's they want to watch and get emails from.
