Description of problem
I have a old test website i have codes on (Phpbb2) and I am trying to transfer my portal codes over to my new website (Invision). The portal codes aren't working because I think they aren't compatible because of the version, so I would like to know how to convert my codes so they are compatible to work on my new forum.Last edited by wizard king on June 28th 2023, 8:43 am; edited 2 times in total

Re: Phpbb2 codes converted to Invision
hello
if you are referring to javascript then you can search here the tutorials and switch the code cause every tutorial has all versions included
if you're talking about CSS codes or editing templates then you must open one question per thread in order to help you

I looked at your tips and tricks page and I don't see what tutorial you're referring to, unless I've looked over it by accident.

Re: Phpbb2 codes converted to Invision
@izel poole what @skouliki means is that if the codes that are not longer compatible came from a tutorial here on the support forum, by going back to their tutorials you should be able to find the analogous version for the other forum versions
while if the codes were custom-made by you, we may need you to share them to understand if a compatible version for the new forum version can be done or not

I understand you, but the codes i need converted came from a friend I played yugioh yeaaaars ago. We coded a yugioh forum years ago and i losted contact with the person. Idk if they made the codes or not themselves so.. I Pm the admin SLGray about it and I'm just waiting for a response patiently. I still want the codes private tho.

I read the general rules. https://help.forumotion.com/t93820-general-rules I don't see the part with where staff are forbidden to keep personal codes private. I want to keep my personal codes private prevent the "stealing" etc. I plan to pay for my own copyrights after my forum is finished tho. Right now I'm awaiting approval for help with this topic. I already reached out to an Admin about this.

You can post the codes then edit your post to remove them when your issue is solved.

yes sir but I just need these specific codes to be confidential. In the past i experienced people copying my work then stealing members from me. I just rather be safe than sorry, granted the fact I've noticed a uptick in traffic on my forum despite me having to market out my website yet. Probably because I'm posting here publicly. I should've been more clear about this before hand so all of us can have a understanding of what I mean. But thats the reason why I don't show my codes i have publicly.
Just for public record.

Re: Phpbb2 codes converted to Invision
@wizard king I understand your point, but please also keep note that the javascript codes that you add on your forum are easily downloadable from anyone without any problem. I could download all your javascript codes by myself, but I don't know which ones you are referring to, so I cannot really help you.
Also, you can post them within the HIDE BBcodes, so that only who replies to this topic will be able to see it

That's actually a good idea, granted the fact staff can remove the codes they send me as well.
I'm going to try out what you said.

Re: Phpbb2 codes converted to Invision
I just ask all staff that helps me to please use HIDE BBcodes as they help me with the codes, and remove the codes from the post after its solved. This will help prevent others from copying me and stealing my members I earn. the codes are below.
1) this goes into my portal structure
2) this code goes below the first one
also this is the size of my new forum https://i.servimg.com/u/f21/20/50/76/58/forum_10.png

Re: Phpbb2 codes converted to Invision
Hi,
Is it possible for you to post a screenshot of what you previously had working on Phpbb2. Thank you.
Just notice they were posted. Let me see what I can do for you. I'll re-edit this post.
Ok, so I went ahead and remove that "Right" for you on your slideshow.
Look for this code on the first code you provided and remove the text between the span class ("Right"). That will get that text removed and it won't display without interfering with the span class.
Let me work on the rest, that way it can display just like you had on Phpbb2
