Intellectual property rights
Hi all,
I joined an RPG forum a few months back, but I've decided not to continue participating. Unfortunately, the forum restricts the editing of posts, so I approached the staff to request the removal of my character sheet. I am concerned about my intellectual property being present on the forum, especially since they did not explicitly outline this restriction in their rules. Despite this, they declined my request, citing it as a rule, even though it wasn't explicitly stated. I believe it's important to respect intellectual property rights, and I'm seeking assistance in having my character sheet deleted. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Intellectual property rights
Hi @SLGray,
Thank you for your prompt response. While I believe they might be willing to delete my account, the issue lies in their refusal to remove or permit me to modify the character sheet associated with my account. As the original creator of that piece, it represents my creative work, and I no longer wish for it to be displayed on their website. I find myself in a situation where they are denying me control over my own content. Could you kindly assist me in resolving this matter? Your support in regaining control over my content would be immensely appreciated.
Furthermore, I am more than willing to verify my profile. Thank you for your understanding and assistance.

Re: Intellectual property rights
When you say character sheet, are you talking about the one in your profile or a post that has the information?

Re: Intellectual property rights
I apologise for any confusion. To clarify, I'm specifically referring to a post containing my creative work. I fully acknowledge that not all my posts can be deleted, and that's not my request. I'm seeking the removal of a single topic that I've created.
Re: Intellectual property rights
So this post only contains creative work, no personal information?

Re: Intellectual property rights
You could try a litigation report: https://www.forumotion.com/litigation

Re: Intellectual property rights
Thank you for the advice! Could you please provide information on who receives and handles the litigation report?
Re: Intellectual property rights
There is a litigation team that deals with reports. The support forum is not part of the team. We do not deal with litigation reports.

Re: Intellectual property rights
Hello,
When a litigation report is made, a copy of the report is sent to forumotion and the founder of the forum
It might take a few days to a few weeks for our litigation team to get around to the report (depends how bus the are)
Once the litigation team has viewed the report, they will take whatever action is required .....if it is minor then they might set a warning with a countdown, the forum must comply by the time that countdown ends or they will delete the forum....if it is serious they might delete the forum immediately with no warning.

Re: Intellectual property rights
Hello both, appreciate the detailed explanation. I have got a couple of additional questions. Is it mandatory to include screenshots and in this specific case scenario, which screenshots do you recommend I attach? Also, what information should be included in the association/society field?
Re: Intellectual property rights
i suggest including all the information that is necessary such as
profile URL - username - registration email
character sheet URL
information including that sheet
some kind of proof that this is your work
but before this, i can open a ticket to our head office asking if they can remove it if not then you can make the report
is this ok with you ? if yes send me by pm all the information you can provide so i can open the ticket
also i suppose you want only the character sheet to be removed not your account
