Banned User Content Empty Banned User Content

Post by UltimateShinobi August 9th 2011, 4:42 am

Okay so I've recently banned two members from my website for excessive inappropriate behaviour, however it seems they like ignoring the IP bans in place and continuing to try to antagonize my staff members, now the most recent stunt surrounds the content of there's on our site and I wonder what the stance is on this. Obviously considering they were banned all their content has started to be moved to our Historical Archives [Storage Section] and is not in use, nor was it ever 'in use' by others since its a Roleplay site and most things only effect the individual. On my sidebar widget we have a copyright section which reads the following:

Naruto© - The Creator
[ Masashi Kishimoto ]
Custom Characters, Equipment, Techniques, Images, etc.
~ Their Rightful Owners ~
Encoding - The Admins
Any creations, posts, and ideas from this site are copyrighted to their respective owners. Therefore, information may not be taken or used without their permission. Failing to abide is plagiarism.
© All Rights Reserved.

Their material is not in use and is not being taken, it is still their material I just don't understand why I have to sit there and remove a load of posts because a few people aren't happy with being banned. Now all I want to know is how I should approach this, if I get word from somebody in the staff that thinks I'll be okay to just leave it then I'll leave it but if they're going to bring it up with Forum motion and create even more of a hassle then I'll go remove their content.

I am having trouble under standing what the issue is. Are the ban members asking you to remove their posts and images?

Most of this story is a lie. Ask several of the moderators that left his site if you truly wish to learn more on this issue, which is much simpler than this liar is making it out to be.

The two members proved the "site owner" [the owner refuses to accept the title] wrong on an issue concerning a character's fertility. He trolled the topic rather than confronting it like a legit moderator. He was quesitoned about it by another two moderators who left after the issue wasn't resolved.

Here is the site if you wish to view the copyright law, which isn't posted in its entirety. Here .

He's refusing to delete around 20 posts because he feels like the posts are property of the site now.

Also here is the copyright law:

Any creations, posts, and ideas from this site are copyrighted to their respective owners. Therefore, information may not be taken or used without their permission. Failing to abide is plagiarism.© All Rights Reserved.

Yes, they simply want their material off the site. They feel like its their property, and right to keep it so that they can forget the entire experience.

I knew this would carry onto here.

Under no circumstance do I believe the material that is wanting to be removed is the sites property, all material belongs to their respective owners and it says that in the copyright. Unlike my counterpart here I'm not going to try to exaggerate a story so people side with what I'm saying.

All I'm asking is it necessary for me to remove over one hundred posts because two banned members are demanding it?

I believe a member (ban or not) has the right to ask the administrator to remove any thing that belongs to a member. It is similar to when a member ask an administrator to delete his/her forum account.

Again, wrong. One user's posts range from 20 to 30. That was the member who first wanted the posts deleted. He, again, refused to do so.

Another moderator that works underneath him stated that the moderators voted to keep the posts on the site for post count.

The other member is willing to comprimise, and allow them to edit the posts into posts with *'s so that the post count is the same.

He's done nothing but continue to harass other members on the site, which have left, he's refused to listen to reason in any argument presented to him, and instead of dealing with the issue himself he sends a moderator [whom is clueless on the situation] to deal with it.

I feel like this would be better if the posts were simply taken off so that both sides can forget this issue.

Hilarious.

Okay then so the response I've got from this topic is all of Chi's post content is to be removed. Consider this solved.

No, you need to change the user: Soul posts as well.

You can keep the posts but change them into *'s. She is more than willing to work with you on it.

bwi I don't think this is the time nor place to start this.

If the user must, which is up to the admin, she can and will make an account here so that she can resolve this. Again, you're making this so difficult when it doesn't need to be.

That's not what you based your arguement on, you're stating that I refused to remove twenty or so posts whereas Soul has 149 posts, I stated that I'd take it up with Forum motion which is dubbed as me refusing which brings us to here, me removing the content of Chi's posts.

Got the clarification I needed, patience will be required in Soul's case because that requires quite a bit of time that I do not have as of yet.

Consider this topic solved.

The issue isn't resolved. Please let me ask another question.
What is the time frame on him taking down the posts before it becomes an issue?

As long as it's handled within the time frame the admin/helper tells us that it needs to be handled in. I think that the issue needs to be handled by someone that works on this site rather than someone that it is bringing to this site.

It's not right to tell the admin that the issue is handled.

Thank you for handling this. You have no idea how hard he's made it for us to get this done. We've had to funnel our messages through another moderator because he refused to talk.

Thanks again, and I know this is harsh, but if you could check on this issue again I would greatly appreciate it.

Very Happy

It doesn't delete the user's content it will only show their posts up as "Guests" instead of the username. This is based on past experiences with other members but if things have changed then my apologies for assuming.

Banning a member does not delete their posts. To delete their posts, you have to delete their accounts.
