What does, "Maximum attachments by messages :" mean? It is located under the attachments section.

Administration Panel → General → Messages & E-Mails → Attachments → Configuration Tab → Maximum attachments by messages

That just means you can add up to 5 files per post (message)

Oh, so it allows you to set a limit on how many files can be attached to a post! Okay! Thanks! Is there a way to set it to an infinite number of files per post?

Doesn't look like you can. You could set it to 0 or remove the number and see. If it doesn't work, its not possible.
