Photo loading is even slower
Hi, since the editor changed the uploading of photos and smilies onto the forum has become increasingly worse. It takes upto 2 minutes for a photo and smiley to appear! Members are complaining every day about it and to that extent we are losing members. This is the forum url - http://autumnleaves.englishboard.net/
Please help as soon as possible before we lose more members.

Re: Photo loading is even slower
Are there many images and smileys in the messages? It takes longer to load many images and smileys.

Re: Photo loading is even slower
I was on your forum earlier when it was public and noticed it took a long time to load nearly everything, mainly images...and something called viglink? Disable all the javascripts on your forum temporarily.
Administration Panel > Modules > HTML and Javascript > Javascript codes management
Tick 'no' the option that says 'Enable Javascript code management' and save. After that go on your forum and see if the images load any faster, if they don't this may be occurring from something else on your forum.

Even to load one single smiley takes at least 1 minute !
Edit to add I've just followed what Seth recommended as above and it has not made any difference whatsoever. I've just tried to post smilies and its take at least 1 minute for them to load. I hav'nt a clue what "viglink" is !

Yes, it will be a lot easier to figure out what is going on if your forum is public. As for viglink there is a script running on your forum under..cdn.viglink api
- Code:
/*

Sizzle CSS Selector Engine

Released under the MIT, BSD, and GPL Licenses.
More information: http://sizzlejs.com/
VigLink JavaScript Library -- http://www.viglink.com

with the VigLink web service.

Re: Photo loading is even slower
Now open to view. Viglink is still a complete mystery !

Re: Photo loading is even slower
I believe the images your forum is trying to retrieve is the issue. This is in your CSS:
Administration Panel > Display > Pictures and color > Colors > CSS stylesheet
The request will eventually time out, once the timeout is complete the browser will continue with loading your other images. I would suggest trying to retrieve and download these images and reupload them to a proper image host.
Administration Panel > Display > Pictures and color > Colors > CSS stylesheet
- Code:
#wrap {
padding: 25px;
margin-top: -35px;
margin-bottom: -60px;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: bottom center;
background-image: url('http://a.imagehost.org/0141/bg_footer.gif');
width: 911px;
min-width: 800px;
}
.headerbar {
height: 200px;
background-image: url('http://a.imagehost.org/0800/bg_header.jpg');
background-position: top center;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
margin-top: 1px;
}
input.search {
background-image: url('http://a.imagehost.org/0939/icon_search.gif');
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: left 1px;
The request will eventually time out, once the timeout is complete the browser will continue with loading your other images. I would suggest trying to retrieve and download these images and reupload them to a proper image host.

Re: Photo loading is even slower
I'm sorry, I'm lost with what you are asking me to do! I have not changed anything whatsoever in the CSS stylesheet. The only changes that have been done recently are what Forumotion did with the new editor. It is since that time that the photo's/smilies have taken longer and longer to load.

Re: Photo loading is even slower
When your forum loads I am constantly finding myself waiting on 'a.imagehost.org' this seems to be the cause of the slow loading times.
Images hosted on certain hosting services can sometimes go down, or remove images. When the browser loads your forum I must wait for 'a.imagehost.org' to timeout before it can proceed with loading the other images.
I looked at your CSS and noticed that the images for wrap, headerbar, and input.search could necessarily be your cause.
You should start with removing these images from your CSS stylesheet to see if there is an improvement:
Make use of the search feature to quickly jump to them, if you need additional help please read over this topic.

Re: Photo loading is even slower
I have taken those out as suggested and now I have an ERROR which is :
Detected error
We have counted a different number of "{" and of "}". It means your CSS risks to be not valid and will not be posted correctly on your forum.
We advise you to reread your code.
Please help with this as soon as possible as taking all that out as described above has changed the look of the forum totally.

Re: Photo loading is even slower
Please overwrite your existing CSS with this:
- Code:
body {
background-repeat: repeat-y;
background-position: center;
min-height: 101%;
padding: 25px;
margin-top: -35px;
margin-bottom: -60px;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: bottom center;
background-image:('');
width: 911px;
min-width: 800px;
}
/* Header-------------------------------------------------*/
.headerbar {
height: 200px;
background-image:('');
background-position: top center;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
margin-top: 1px;
}
-body {
margin-left: 20px;
width: 871px;
}
div.navbar {
margin-left: 20px;
width: 851px;
}
a.button1, input.button1, a.button2, input.button2, button.button2 {
background-image: url('');
background-repeat: repeat;
font-family: arial ;
color: #ac2319;
}
input.search {
background-image:('');
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: left 1px;
}
img.smiley {
width: auto !important;
height: auto !important;
}
div.sceditor-emoticons {
overflow: auto;
max-height: 200px;
max-width: 250px;
}
.sceditor-container iframe, .sceditor-container textarea{
font-size: 20px !important;
}
